GENERAL:

Jockey D. Whitmore was fined a sum of $300 under the provisions of AR120(B) when found to be overweight on SHEZIGURU, LOOKING AT LACE and FOREVER MORE. In assessing penalty stewards took into account jockey Whitmore’s recent poor record.

Race 1: Blackrock Mining Solutions Class B Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – ALANDY LAD 2nd – KENSINGTON 3rd – BLONDESHAVEMOREFUN 4th – ROCKET ON POP

Stewards permitted jockey Whitmore to ride SHEZIGURU one and a half kilograms overweight as there was no other rider available.

Prior to the announcement of correct weight Jockey T. Bannon, rider of third placed KENSINGTION requested to view the official photo finish. Upon viewing the photo Jockey Bannon was of the view that KENSINGTON had finished in front of second placed BLONDSEHAVEMOREFUN. Stewards were in agreeance with Jockey Bannon and subsequently amended the placings under the provisions of AR 156 (3) as follows:

1st - ALANDY LAD
2ND - KENSINGTON
3RD - BLONDESHAVEMOREFUN
4TH - ROCKET ON POP

SHEZIGURU (D. Whitmore) and ROCK ON POP (N. Patchett) made contact on jumping away.

Race 2: Spotless Facility Services QTIS Maiden Plate – 1000 metres:
1st – VARSOVIENNA 2nd – LOOKING AT LACE 3rd – MAZA BOY 4th – BRIDAL CHIMES

Stewards permitted jockey Whitemore to ride LOOKING AT LACE one and half kilograms overweight as there was no other rider’s available.

ALWAYS PERSIANGULF was declared a late scratching at 1:40pm by the stewards as jockey M. Harris the rider of the gelding failed to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement and there were no other available riders. Jockey M. Harris will be interviewed at a later date. All monies invested on ALWAYS PERSIANGULF were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

1st VARSOVIENNA – 9 cents the win and 10 cents the place
2nd LOOKING AT LACE – 13 cents the place
3rd MAZA BOY – 12 cents the place

At the start DOMINEERING (S. McGovern) jump outwards making contact with BROWN CANDY (T. O’Hara) which in turn made contact with ADDA ROCKET (S. Watkin), which after beginning awkwardly had to be steadied and lost ground.

MINNIE MOOCH (M. Usher) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

LOOKING AT LACE (D. Whitmore) raced wide throughout the event.

COCO LOCO (N. Patchett) had a tendance to lay out near the 800 metres.

ORPEN PRINCESS (S. Watkin) raced wide throughout the event.

When questioned as to the disappointing performance of JOE KWILA, jockey T. O’Hara stated that near the 800 metres JOE KWILA blundered and became unbalanced resulting in the gelding racing un-tractably for a few strides thereafter. Jockey O’ Hara further stated that upon entering the straight JOE KWLIA responded to her riding and finished the race off well. A post-race veterinary examination of JOE KWILA revealed there to be a superficial abrasion to the off hind leg.

PYPER’S IMAGE (N. Patchett) had to be steadied near the 800 metres when the gelding raced un-tractably to the inside of SHOT BAR (D. Whitmore) which shifted in marginally. Stewards could not be satisfied the incident was solely attributable to the minor shift of SHOT BAR however, advised Jockey Whitmore to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 5: Anglo American Open Hadicap – 1400 metres
1st – SOBEIT 2nd – FOREVER MORE 3rd – MR NICHOLAS 4th – SEA DYNASTY
