RACE 1 -.CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1250M
Glowing Profit was slow to begin and has drifted out down the straight at the 150m requiring the rider to stop and straighten. Lightfoot Tango jumped out at the start and brushed Miss High life. Jockey R.Pujolas ( Lightfoot Tango ) accidently dropped his girth cover upon return to scale and it was located in the possession of Trainer L.Manzelmann who picked it up and washed it prior to returning it to the jockey. Mr. Manzelamann was reprimanded and reminded of the importance that all gear carried by the horse is to be weighed out by the jockey on return to scale.This delayed the declaration of correct weight for a few moments.
RACE 2 –CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1250M
Sendette was slowly away. Approaching the 900m Alpine Whistler has commenced to over race when the pace slowed and has to be eased off the heels of Boyer.
RACE 3 –CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1500M
D.Lloyd was indisposed with heat exhaustion after race 2 and was replaced as the rider of Cut a Rug by J.Felix. Full on Jacks was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the race and passed fit to start. Cut a Rug was slow to begin. Santa wears Red pulled hard in the early stages.
RACE 4 -.OPEN HANDICAP 1500M
D.Lloyd was indisposed with heat exhaustion and was replaced as the rider of Pistol Star by R.Pujolas. Down Payment was slow to begin. Pistol Star began well and pulled hard in the lead when the intention of the trainer L.Manzelmann was to allow the horse to settle back off the speed but the jockey was unable to fulfil these riding instructions when he found himself in the lead.
RACE 5 -MAIDEN HANDICAP 1250M
J.Cairns replaced D.Lloyd as the rider of What a Pearler due to Lloyd’s continuing illness.
As the gates opened Valantino jumped outwards and Machita jumped inwards and as a result both Propellor and Gertrudis were tightened. Ranner Way was slowly away. D.Johnston was reprimanded for failing to ride to his nominated riding weight of 54.0Kg. on Battle River.
RACE 6 –.CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1050M
Lethalize has jumped out at the start taking Battle River out onto Notorious Lady. Victoria River jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 650m El Be Double You rolled off the fence and began to lose ground. Lethalize which was racing behind that filly has to ease to the outside and lost some ground as a result.Miss Athlete raced ungenerously over the final 200m changing stride on several occasions. A subsequent veterinary examination after the race revealed a torn muscle in the right thigh area.Trainer D.Christensen was fined $50.00 for presenting Miss Athlete in the enclosure without blinkers.
RACE 7 – CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1800M
S.Watkins replaced D.Lloyd as the rider of Century Sunset due to Lloyd’s previous illness.
Approaching the 400m Century Sunset had to be checked off the heels of the tiring Misty Eyed and in doing so lost considerable ground. A protest was lodged by D.Simmons ( Glenbolt ) placed 2nd against the winner Century sunset ( S.Watkin) for alleged interference over the final 100m. After hearing evidence and viewing the film stewards dismissed the protest and the placings remained as originally called.
