INTERIM THOROUGHBRED RACING BOARD
STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 23rd MARCH 2002.

STEWARDS – G.Hargraves (ch), B.Chestermaster, T.Moloney.

WEATHER - Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – True position.

RACE 1 C.R.Kennedy Class 2 Hcp 1500m 8 Strs.

ASPIRING BOY jumped in at the start and bumped ORIENTAL PRINCESS.

SNAP DANCER over raced in the early stages.

Jockey R.Pujolas reported that his mount LA BEBE hung out for the majority of the event.

Jockey D.Lloyd was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he
permitted his mount KRISCHENVEEARI to shift in soon after the start when not
clear of MUSLIN which resulted in that filly clipping the heels of
KRISCHENVEEARI and blundering. D.Lloyd had his licence to ride in races
suspended for a period of 3 meetings to commence at midnight 23/03/2002 and
to expire at midnight 01/04/2002.

RACE 2 Douglas, Gibb and Lewis Open Hcp 1500m 10 Strs.

Jockey C.Schumacher was reprimanded when he failed to make the weight on
BLAZING KALA. He was replaced by G.Evans.

BAD HAIR DAY was slow away.

JUST STYLE shifted out on the first turn hampering TELKALA.

MY KING shifted out on the home turn taking TELKALA wider on the track.

RACE 3 “Homefield Cows” Class 6 Hcp 1250m 7 Strs.

Near the 900m FIANDER had to be steadied off the heels of NATHAN’S PLEASURE
which shifted in.

After the event FIANDER was found to have suffered a laceration to its near
hind coronet.

Trainer M.Crouch was fined $50 for presenting KORN JULIO to race with
oversized nails in its plates.

RACE 4 Julie Martin Birthday Maiden Hcp 1250m 9 Strs.

MYSTIC ACE was checked at the start when tightened for room between REEF
STALKER which shifted out and HIGH LADY which shifted in.

BLUE FACET was obliged to race wide throughout.

REEF STALKER was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of MYSTIC ACE trainer
C.Dawson stated that the saddle had slipped at its previous start in
Rockhampton and that he had experimented with a tongue tie on the gelding
today. His explanation was noted.

RACE 5 Leisure Safe “Gold ‘n’ Reef” Series Class 4 Hcp 1250m 12 Strs.

CRACKER JACK was slow away.

MORGAN’S GREY jumped away awkwardly.

FEET ON THE GROUND raced in restricted room for some distance approaching
the 800m.

BABY SPICE was obliged to race wide throughout.

Near the 700m ITALIAN EXPRESS had to be steadied off the heels of IRISH
WINGS which shifted out.

Apprentice L.Attard pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he
permitted his mount IRISH WINGS to shift out near the 400m when not clear of
ITALIAN EXPRESS which had to be checked. L.Attard had his licence to ride in
races suspended for a period of 3 meetings to commence at midnight
23/03/2002 and to expire at midnight 01/04/2002.

RACE 6 CNW Electrical Class 1 Hcp 1050m 12 Strs.

TRISSON dipped soon after jumping.

Near the 900m NATHAN’S CHARM shifted out and TANGO PRINCE shifted in
tightening the running of both VITA BRICK and DEVICE which resulted in
DEVICE having to be checked. Both Jockey D.Cash and Apprentice L.Attard were
cautioned and advised they must make more of an effort to keep their mounts
straight.

On straightening NATHAN’S CHARM and RODEO HIGH made heavy contact.
