WEATHER – Fine TRACK - Good RAIL – True position
GENERAL – Due to a clerical error D. Simmons was incorrectly named as the rider of UPON A STAR in Race 1 instead of D. Lloyd. Similarly D.Lloyd was incorrectly named as the rider of WALK LIKE A MAN in Race 2 instead of D. Simmons.
RACE 1: TORI SENDEN HENS PARTY CLASS 6 HCP 1050M.
UPON A STAR was slow away.
FLASH TUNE jumped away awkwardly.
RACE 2: CARLY McGRATH DRINKING PARTY MAIDEN HCP 1250M.
BLACK ASSAULT jumped away awkwardly and made contact with RIVIERA PLAYBOY.
BESHET jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 1000m WALK LIKE A MAN shifted in and hampered BESHET.
A post race vet inspection of BESHET, which finished well back revealed this gelding to be showing mild shin soreness. Trainer T. Cook advised stewards that BESHET would now be spelled.
RACE 3: THERESE PERNA DRINKING PARTY CLASS 2 HCP 1250M.
SPECTACULAR SKY and RORY’S LOVE were slow away.
BURGEON was trapped wide throughout.
When questioned over the seemingly disappointing performance of SPECTACULAR SKY Jockey W. Binder stated that the gelding raced ungenerously and was field shy in the middle stages and he felt it may have resented the track fill coming back into it’s face. His comments were noted. A post race vet inspection of SPECTACULAR SKY failed to reveal any abnormalities.
When questioned over the seemingly disappointing performance of SEAGATE Jockey M. Young was at a loss to explain the performance other than the gelding was up in class and distance compared to its previous start and was under pressure a long way from home. He added that he felt SEAGATE didn’t feel right in its action over the concluding stages. His comments were noted. A post race vet inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 4: KOMATSU SOCIAL CLUB GOLD’N’REEF SERIES CL 4 HCP 1250M.
D. Lloyd was permitted to ride MISTER BENGAL 2 kgs overweight due to a lack of riders. D. Lloyd was fined $200.
MISTER BENGAL was slow away.
SWEET CITY SIOUX jumped away awkwardly.
SWEET CITY SIOUX was trapped wide in the early stages.
Near the 650m JUST ON DUSK shifted out and hampered SWEET CITY SIOUX.
KWAWA CHARM was unable to obtain clear running in the home straight.
GERTRUDIS was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.
When questioned over the seemingly disappointing performance of SWEET CITY SIOUX Jockey C. Schumacher stated that the mare was under pressure a long way from home and was at a loss to explain its performance. A post race vet inspection of SWEET CITY SIOUX revealed this mare to have bruising to its gum and mouth and swelling to its off hind tendon. Trainer M. Crouch was advised that a vet certificate of soundness would need to be provided prior to the mare’s next start.
A post race vet inspection of JUST ON DUSK failed to reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 5: HI ENERGY HEALTH & FITNESS CENTRE CLASS 1 HCP 1500M.
Trainer D. Erricker was fined $25 for presenting FULL ON JACKS into the inclosure without blinkers.
BRENDY BOY was slow away.
BYE BYE BETTI OPEN HCP 1500M.
CARLTON LAD was slow away.
JOLTIN JOE over raced in the early and middle stages.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
