MACKAY TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 5/04/03

STEWARDS PANEL: G. Hargraves (ch), B. Chestermaster.

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Dead RAIL – True position

RACE 1: MAQUIRES HOTEL MAIDEN HCP 1050M.

MILES ON raced greenly throughout and had to be checked near the 600m when it shifted in of its own accord towards the inside rail.

Jockey D. Simmons reported that DID I DO IT got its tongue over the bit.

RACE 2: XXXX CLASS 1 HCP 1050M.

RIVIERA PLAYBOY reared as the gates opened.

RIVIERA PLAYBOY over raced in the early and middle stages and near the 600m had to be checked off the heels of SUN OF CLANG.

Rounding the home turn SPECTACULAR SKY that was improving shifted out to obtain clear running and in so doing made heavy contact with the tiring BALBRIDIE, which became unbalanced. In this incident R. Mules the rider of SPECTACULAR SKY was cautioned.

When questioned over why SUN OF CLANG lost ground rounding the home turn Jockey D. Simmons stated that the gelding wanted to hang out and changed stride on several occasions. His comments were noted.

RACE 3: TOOHEYS NEW OPEN HCP 1050M.

MINI ME was slow away.

FLASH TUNE jumped out at the start and CHIEF BULLI jumped in resulting in LIBERTY LAD being severely crowded for room and having to be checked.

Near the 800m THE TANK shifted out and inconvenienced FLASH TUNE.

Near the 200m MINI ME shifted out abruptly and as a result REGAL STRIKE, which was following, had to be steadied.

RACE 4: HAHN LITE CLASS 4 HCP 1500M.

When questioned over the improved performance of KAJNO Trainer M. Attard stated that after jumping well and being left in front due to a lack of early speed in the race the mares rider D. Simmons was able to run the race at his own tempo, which resulted in KAJNO finding plenty over the concluding stages. He also added that KAJNO races best on rain affected going. His comments were noted.



RACE 5: T W HEDLEY CLASS 2 HCP 1500M.

No incidents in running.

RACE 6: MBB CLASS 6 HCP 1250M.

No incidents in running.
