STEWARDS PANEL: G. Hargraves (ch), T. Moloney.
WEATHER – O/cast TRACK – Good RAIL – Out 3m from 900m to winning post.
RACE 1: XXXX CLASS 6 HCP 1500M.
DAVE’S CHANCE got its head up and raced ungenerously in the early stages.
RACE 2: TOOHEYS CLASS 2 HCP 1050M.
Trainer T. Cook was fined $25 for lodging an incorrect stable return for RAW PRAWN.
NORTHERN WATCH was slow away.
DANATAL jumped away awkwardly.
Soon after the start INTEGRA ROYAL shifted in and bumped DANATAL resulting in INTEGRA ROYAL becoming unbalanced. After this incident DANATAL continued to shift in under hard riding resulting in RAW PRAWN and LET’S GO RAW being tightened for room with LET’S GO RAW having to be steadied. Apprentice S. Kavanagh the rider of DANATAL was reprimanded.
SEAGATE and PRIDE OF CASS were trapped wide throughout.
Passing the 100m NORTHERN WATCH shifted out abruptly under hard riding.
DANATAL suffered an abrasion to its near hind coronet.
RACE 3: T W HEDLEY CLASS 4 HCP 1050M
Approaching the 800m TOUGH AS NAILS which was laying in had to be steadied off the heels of ACQUIRE.
Near the 200m SALIENT PRINCE shifted in and hampered TOUGH AS NAILS. Soon after SALIENT PRINCE shifted out and inconvenienced ACQUIRE.
DARALOE lost its near hind plate in running.
RACE 4: CHR TRAVEL CLASS 1 HCP 1250M.
SPECTACULAR SKY was unable to obtain clear running for the duration of the home straight.
RACE 5: QANTAS MAIDEN HCP 1250M.
MILES ON jumped away awkwardly and soon after was hampered by KINKA STAR, which shifted in. As a result MILES ON shifted in and bumped DID I DO IT, which in turn made contact with the hindquarters of TIDEMARK, which became unbalanced.
KUMATAI and TIGER HERO raced wide throughout.
BLACK ASSAULT raced greenly in the early stages.
RACE 6: EASTER OPEN HCP 1250M.
ITALIAN EXPRESS which was having its second start for the day was inspected by the vet prior to this event and passed fit to start.
Trainer C. Lammonde was fined $25 for presenting ITALIAN EXPRESS to the mounting enclosure with the incorrect gear.
MONO BLUE was slow away.
CHIEF BULLI jumped away awkwardly.
When questioned over the performance of CHIEF BULLI Apprentice S. Kavanagh stated that the gelding travelled well throughout but raced like a tired horse over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Attard stated he felt CHIEF BULLI was feeling the effects of having started three times in as many weeks carrying big weights and added that today the gelding had to carry a fair amount of dead weight due to the slight stature of Apprentice Kavanagh. He added that he was going to recommend to the owners that CHIEF BULLI be given a short spell. Their comments were noted.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
