Upon returning to the enclosure it was established that FINAL STORM had bled from both nostrils during the running of the event. This was confirmed by the club’s Veterinary Surgeon and the horse was deemed a bleeder, under the terms of Australian Rule of Racing 53A. Trainer Alan Jones was advised that the horse FINAL STORM was now barred from racing for a period of 3 calendar months. This was the horse’s first attack of bleeding.

RACE 2: CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1050M – 8 Starters

RACE 4: MAIDEN HANDICAP 1250M – 12 Starters
MAGICLANG (B. Binder) was slow into stride. During the preliminary of this event Jockey Dale Evans was dislodged from his mount WOOD DUX. The horse then completed the full circuit of the track before slipping. Acting on Veterinary advice, stewards ordered that the horse be a withdrawal at 2.48pm from the field. Prior to the declaration of correct weights, stewards ordered that betting deductions be made at a rate of 19 cents in the dollar for the win portion of the bet, 16 cents in the dollar for place portion of the bet. Jockey J Stanley reported to the stewards that his mount COVER MY TRACKS was reluctant to gallop from the 1000m mark onwards. Stewards inquired into the reason Ron Goltz was declared as the rider of CHUM in this event and subsequently replaced by D Simmons. After taking evidence from Ron Goltz, trainer Kathy Mylne and also trainer Garnett Taylor, stewards adjourned this inquiry until a time and date to be fixed.
Trainer John Manzelman was fined a sum of $50 under the terms of AR59A, in that as a trainer of REDBISC he failed to produce the identification papers for that horse when requested to do so by the stewards.
