Race 1: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)
1st SHEARER’S MAGIC 2nd TE AROHA 3rd CRAIGLEA CELICA 4th- CRAIGLEA ELTON

CRAIGLEA ELTON (App K Gates) began awkwardly.

As the start was effected CRAIGLEA RAMBO (I Coombes) jumped into the side of the gates and as a result was slow into stride and failed to muster any speed through- out the race.
A post-race veterinary inspection of CRAIGLEA RAMBO did not reveal any abnormalities.

TE AROHA (S McGovern) raced wide through-out.

Apprentice R Payne, the rider of SHEARER’S MAGIC, lost her whip near the 200 metres.

Race 2: CLASS B HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
1st HERE’S LUCY 2nd DON’T TELL ALI 3rd TSIGANE’S LAD 4th- ME FAST TOO

ZIP ZIP GIRL was declared a late scratching at 8.15am due to no rider being available.

On jumping HERE’S LUCY (S Bayliss) jumped inwards and severly hampered ME FAST TOO (L Dillon).

Shortly after the start NO RISQUE (I Coombes) shifted out sharply and bumped heavily with TSIGANE’S LAD (App R Payne) causing TSIGANE’S LAD to shift outwards and lose ground.

DON’T TELL ALI (S McGovern) was slow into stride.
PLATIMISS (E Heinemann) and COLONEL SODHI (App K gates) raced wide through-out.
OUTBACK SAPPER (App A Kitson) had difficulty rounding the home turn.

Race 3: CLASS 4 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
1st–GREYWIN 2nd – CONJUGAL RIGHTS 3rd PROSPECTOR BOB 4th- CYCLONE STEVE

On jumping GREYWIN (S McGovern) shifted out and bumped PROSPECTOR BOB (App K Gates) which was forced out and hampered FAIR EXPECTATIONS (App A Kitson).
CRAIGLEA COBRA (L Dillon) raced wide early.
FAIR EXPECTATIONS (App A Kitson) raced wide through-out.
Apprentice jockey F. Elliott, the rider of CONJUGAL RIGHTS, lost the grip on her off side rein near the 150 metres and was unable to regain it until after the race.

Race 4: OPEN HANDICAP (1200 metres)
1st MOSSANAY 2nd FLIGHT COMMAND 3rd TY SEEKER 4th – DINERO RAPIDO

TY SEEKER (App A Kitson) was slow into stride.
No other racing incidents to report.

Race 5: CLASS 2 (1400 metres)
1st SOUTHSIDE 2nd THE PANTZ 3rd MILWAUKEE BELLE 4th- BLACK POINT

COUNTRYWIDE (App R Payne) was fractious prior to the start.
Shortly after jumping COUNTRYWIDE (App R Payne) shifted out and bumped heavily with MILWAUKEE BELLE (I Coombes).
COUNTRYWIDE (App R Payne) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SOUTHSIDE (L Dillon) raced wide through-out.

When questioned about the disappointing performance of BELWINA jockey C Pye stated that BELWINA was reluctant to stretch out at any stage during the race and she felt that BELWINA may have been struggling with the hard racing surface. Trainer J Curtain agreed with the comments of jockey Pye and also stated that its recent starts had been on tracks with some give.
Jockey E Heinemann reported that JORJA’S DRAGON resented the kickback coming back through-out the race.
Apprentice jockey R Payne the rider of COUNTRYWIDE began to ease the gelding out of the race from the 150 metres. A post-race veterinary surgeon could find no obvious abnormalities and was of the opinion that it may have felt the hard racing surface.
