MAREEBA TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 26/12/02

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – TRUE

As E Kowald and J Lewis were indisposed, stewards permitted the following replacements:
Race 1 SUPREME LUCK S Morris
Race 2 CAPELYN D Dean

RACE 1: L M ENGINERRING MAIDEN H'CAP –1010M

On return to scale a protest was lodged by D Crossland, the rider of 2nd placegetter PINK KIMONO, against QUALITY ACHIEVED (K Brady) being declared the winner, alleging interference at the 400m. It was established that leaving the 400m PINK KIMONO which was hard ridden shifted out at the same time QUALITY ACHIEVED rolled in marginally. Stewards dismissed the protest and the placings ordered to stand.


RACE 2: TAFFY’S BACKHOE HIRE CLASS 2 H'CAP – 930M

D Dean was dislodged from CAPELYN in the enclosure injuring his right knee. CAPELYN was a late scratching at 1.40pm. Deductions of 5 cents for the win and 6 cents for the place. Trainer G Elmes was advised that a warning would be place on CAPELYN.

LIBBA was slow in to stride.

RACE 3: GRAHAM HOTEL WEIGHT FOR AGE H'CAP – 1010M

CRAFTY LAD jumped awkwardly losing ground.

RACE 4: MUTCHILBA PARK HORSE SPELLING & TRAINING COMPLEX CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1500M

No racing incidents

RACE 5: MAREEBA RSL CLUB REEF ‘N’ RAINFOREST CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1210M

D Dean who was injured earlier in the day and was replaced by K Rockett on LE COUP.
