Race 1: THANKS TO RAE & PAUL STRETTON CLASS A HANDICAP 900 METRES:
1st – Lokabrenna 2nd – Royalty Reigns 3rd – Destiny Express 4th – Theitalianstallion
Thechampishere (T Hill) was slow to begin.
Theitalianstallion (App S Mossman) jumped outwards when released and bumped Lokabrenna (K Ballard) resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
Trainer R Ryder was advised that a warning was placed on the racing manners of Rory’s Peak (M Cummings) after the gelding hung out on the 1st turn.
Race 2: BEEF & BARRA CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 METRES
1st – Woodmans Way 2nd – Premium Victory 3rd – Tickle ‘em 4th – Perfect Option
Trainer W Crossland was advised that a warning was placed on the barrier manners of Early Exit (T Brummell) after the gelding sat back in the barriers as the gates were released loosing valuable ground
Tickle ‘em (K Ballard) raced wide on the first turn.
Jockey D Ballard (Perfect Option) advised that his saddle had slipped shortly after jumping placing him at a considerable disadvantage throughout. It was also observed jockey Ballard dismounted from Perfect Option when returning to scale.
Race 3: J.K.A. CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 METRES
1st – Troubled 2nd – Brawled 3rd – Dermere 4th – Bay Route
Silent Mayhem (M Cummings) was difficult to load and on jumping shifted out and bumped Dermere (S Mossman) which lost ground. Shortly after Silent Mayhem and Troubled (D Ballard) came together and brushed.
Atrocious (D Jones) was slow to begin and then nearing the 700 mtrs became awkward and shifted out. On questioning Jockey D Jones stated that Atrocious had a disliking to the sand coming back and after shifting out he began to race more truly, for the remainder of the event.
Race 4: SURF & TURF OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES:
1st – Supertax 2nd – Heart 3rd – Headlight 4th – Majestic Lion
Rainbow Dancer (T Hill) was slow to begin.
Peaye Arjay (M Cummings) shifted out after the start taking Euros (App S Mossman) wider on the track.
On pulling up jockey K Ballard (Supertax) was dislodged and suffered a harmless fall when his offside stirrup leather broke. On inspecting the broken leather jockey Ballard advised that this was the third time he had used the new leathers and they were being returned to the supplier for further inspection.
Race 5: RAPS ICEWORKS OPEN HANDICAP 1700 METRES
1st – Longstreet 2nd – Audit 3rd – Tanginator 4th – Catbird Kahn
Native Hunter (T Hill) jumped inwards at the start and bumped Catbird Kahn (D Jones) resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
Mr Blonde (J Rudd) raced wide from the 1400 to the 600 mtrs.
Tanginator (T Brummell) raced wide throughout.
Stewards questioned jockey C Pay over the performance of Sooth Sayer and he stated that the gelding had never travelled throughout changing strides in the sandy surface of the track and not at any stage did he feel comfortable. He further stated that he felt that Sooth Sayer may be sore in both front legs. A subsequent post race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormality. Stewards advised Trainer P Inwood to notify the stewards should anything come to notice with Sooth Sayer upon returning to his stable.
