Race 1: Phantom Meeting Here Melbourne Cup Day Class 1 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st - Zooqalo 2nd – Puffed 3rd – Megaroyale 4th - Mrsooty

Jockey D. Ballard was the declared as the rider of PUFFED.

WOODMANS WAY was declared a late scratching at 2:35pm when the gelding refused to load in the barriers. Deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 13 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets were declared. Trainer C. Hampton was advised that WOODMANS WAY would have to undergo a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to the gelding racing again.

MISS TOBOUGG (D. Jones) jumped outwards at the start and then raced wide for the majority of the event.

MR SOOTY (J. Rudd) hung out after the start and then raced wide for the majority of the event.

HOOTSON (W. D’Avila) hung out down the back straight and around the back turn.

Race 2: Come to Derby Day at Buchanan Park Class 5 Handicap – 1200 metres
1ST -- Kissandra 2nd – D’Lordson 3rd – Super Strop 4th – Party Charter

Jockey D. Ballard was declared as the rider of KISSANDRA and permitted to ride 1 kilogram overweight as there were no other suitable riders.

D’LORDSON (W. D’Avila) bounded out of the gates and failed to muster early speed. D’LORDSON then raced wide for the majority of the race and had a tendency to hang-in in the home straight.

PRINCE OF YODELLS (K. Ballard) jumped inwards as the start was affected and bumped SUPER STROP (J. Stopps).



Race 3: Hastings Deering Mount Isa Branch Maiden Plate – 1000 metres:
1st – Cool As Clang 2nd Raging Forties 3rd Heinous 4th - Warroo

COOL AS CLANG (A. Spradau) proved difficult to load. Trainer R. Ryder was advised the gelding would have to undergo a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior its next start.

HEINOUS (D. Jones) jumped outwards and bumped COOL AS CLANG (A. Spradau). HEINOUS then raced wide for the entire event.

SOPHIA LAGO (K. Ballard) began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

Jockey A. Spradau the rider of COOL AS CLANG weighed-in in excess of the permissible half kilogram and was subsequently fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR 145.

Race 4: Product People Commitment Class 3 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – Big Ethan 2nd – Galaxy Gold – 3rd – Silent Lightning 4th - Donqualo

DONQUALO (W. D’Avilia) and SILENT LIGHTNING (D. Jones) were both slow to begin.

SILENT LIGHTNING (D. Jones) raced wide throughout.

LASTING PEACE (S. Mossman) raced ungenerously from the 800m point onwards. Jockey S. Mossman stated that in his opinion LASTING PEACE may have got its tongue over the bit.


Race 5: Hastings Deering Customer Appreciation Afternoon Open Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – Stellar Show 2nd – Headlight 3rd – Euros 4th – St Louis Blue

EUROS (J. Stopps) proved difficult to load. Trainer P. Inwood was advised that the gelding would have to undergo a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next start.

STELLAR SHOW (K. Ballard) knuckled at the start and in doing so slightly hampered ST LOUIS BLUE (M. Cummings) which then failed to muster speed in the early and middle stages.

HEADLIGHT (D. Ballard) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
