When questioned as to the tactics adopted in the early stages and the seemingly disappointing performance of DESMOSEDICI, jockey L. Morrison stated that DESMOSEDICI after beginning well settled in a midfield position which was in contrast to its previous start where DESMOSEDICI raced in a rearward position. Morrison further added that the Mount Isa track was a small track and that it was difficult to make ground from the rear of the field. L. Morrison added that she placed the gelding under pressure leaving the 500 metres and responded only fairly. Stewards noted jockey Morrison’s explanation.
