Race 1 – STEEJO PRESS CLASS B HANDICAP. (1450 METRES) ( 8 STARTERS)
1st - BULLRAMA 2nd - CARDIFF ARMS 3rd - GOLD VISION 4th - WATTLE WARRIOR

S. Mossman rode INTUNE.

WATTLE WARRIOR (K. Ballard) was reluctant to load into the barriers and as a result a Warning was placed on the gelding in relation to barrier manners.

INTUNE (S. Mossman) threw its head into the air as the gates opened, losing ground and then raced wide all the way.

BULLRAMA (D. Ballard) raced wide rounding the 1200 metre turn.

BRUCE IN THE SUIT (J. Rudd) raced wide rounding the 1200 and home turns.


Race 2: SAVE THE HOOTERS MAIDEN PLATE. 12(00 METRES) . ( 6 STARTERS).
1st - LE LIDO 2nd - PETRONI (NZ) 3rd - SPACE SAVER 4th - RED PLANET.

LE LIDO (M. Hart) and SPACE SAVER (A. Morrison) both raced wide rounding the 600 metre turn.

PETRONI (NZ) (J. Rudd) raced wide rounding the 600 metre and home turns.

DOUBLE REJOICE (M. Cummings) finished a distant last. Trainer Mr G. Tipping advised it is his intentions to spell the mare immediately.


Race 3: RUB OUT BREAT CANCER CLASS 1. HANDICAP. (1200 METRES). (7 Starters).
1st – SHIMAZU 2nd - MICHALAK (NZ) 3rd - STROM BLEU 4th - ALSOUQ

HUNGA (Ms T. Chambers) was re-saddled in the mounting yard. On reaching the start, Jockey Chambers advised the Starter that she felt the gelding was stepping short on the left foreleg. The Veterinary Surgeon carried out an examination of the gelding but could not find any irregularities. Jockey Chambers remounted however claimed horse still felt sore in the left fore leg. On this advice the Veterinary Surgeon reported to Stewards to scratch the gelding. HUNGA was therefore declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 3.46pm on veterinary advice. (R.S.C. Veterinary Incident Report No. 28412 refers). Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered all monies wagered on HUNGA were to be refunded and betting deductions of 4 cents the win and 4 cents the place on the face value of all successful bets made prior to the withdrawal of HUNGA were to apply.

Trainer Mr. K. Krogh was advised by Stewards to report if HUNGA slows any signs of lameness in the coming days.

STROM BLEU (M. Hart), MICHALAK (NZ) (Apprentice Ms T. Ticknell) and FRISCO ROCKET (J. Kropp) raced wide rounding the 600 metre turn.

Race 4: MIRC ANNUAL BREAST CANCER FUNDRAISER BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP.
(1000 METRES). ( 8 Starters).
1st – STEINBERG 2nd - WON A HEART 3rd – WINDSPLITTER 4th – FULGORA

CONCETTO was scratched as no suitable rider was available.

As Jockey A. Spradau was unable to make the weight of 58½kgs on ACCESS CODE, he was replaced by K. Ballard. Jockey SPRADAU was subsequently charged with a breach of AR 120(b) for accepting a ride when overweight. Jockey Spradau pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $150.

CASTAWAY (A. Morrison) was a late scratching at 4.43pm by order of Stewards when it was unable to be loaded into the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered all monies wagered on CASTAWAY were to be refunded and betting deductions of 47 cents the win and 25 cents the place on the face value of all successful bets made prior to the withdrawal of CASTAWAY were to apply.

Stewards advised Mr B. Braden, the Trainer of CASTAWAY, that the gelding must successfully complete two barrier jump outs before again being allowed to start in a race.

FOUAREE (T. Hill) raced wide rounding the 600 metre turn.

FULGORA (Apprentice Ms T. Ticknell), WON A HEART (D. Ballard) and I’m HOT (M. Hart) all raced wide rounding the home turn.


Race 5: DIANE JONES MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP. (1000 METRES) . ( 5 Starters).
1st – ROCKET ON BY 2nd - EMILA 3rd – WHISPERING DEATH 4th – CHEMIN DE MARC

Certificate of Fitness to race provided in respect to EMILA by Trainer Mr. J. Morris.

CHEMIN DE MARC (D. Ballard) knuckled on jumping and was taken to the outside on gathering pace, and raced wide rounding the 600 metre turn.

TAIMEX (A. Morrison) jumped outwards onto CHEMIN DE MARC which had knuckled.

GENERAL

Bookmakers. Two bookmakers, G. Saunders and D. Comerford fielded at this meeting.

Jockeys Twelve Jockeys were in attendance at this meeting but one runner was scratched as the result of
no suitable rider being available.

Racebook. Owing to the fact that INTUNE (Race One) and HAPPY RHYTHM (Race Four) were late acceptors for this meeting. The Racebook for the meeting was apparently printed from the Acceptors Sheet and did not include these two runners. The barriers positions, (in the race book), were not affected for race one ,but were affected for Race Four. The Club were aware of the omission and rectified their paper work accordingly. Announcements were made over the public address and notices posted in prominent positions on track advising of the situation. Bookmakers were aware of the situation.
