GENERAL:
When no other riders were available stewards permitted jockey A Morrison to ride the following runners over their declared weight;

RACE 1: Fulgora 2kg over its declared weight
RACE 3: NORTH SPUR 1kg over its declared weight
RACE 4: FATE FOR SURE 1/2kg over its declared weight

Subsequently A Morrison was fined $200 under AR120(b).

Race 1: Ultralok Mining Benchmark 70 Handicap 900 metres:
1st – COMMANDING SPUR 2nd – FOUAREE 3rd – ITZABLUR 4th – MAHMENTUM

PISMO BEACH was a late withdrawal at 10.30am when the gelding was found to be sore in the near fore hoof. Trainer Mr P Inwood was advised that prior to racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.

ONCE AGAIN MELADY (T Brummell) began awkwardly.

TAP IN BIRDIE (T Chambers) shifted in at the start and made contact with MAHMENTUM (T Hill).

M Cummings (ROPABLE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 700m he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of STATION MASTER (A Badger) which was carried into the running of ONCE AGAIN MELADY (T Brummell) which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. M Cummings’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period to cover 2 meetings, starting midnight 7th June 2014 and to expire at midnight 20th June 2014.

STATION MASTER (A Badger) and ROPABLE (M Cummings) raced wide throughout.

FULGORA (A Morrison) raced wide rounding the 600m turn.

FOUAREE (App C Kropp) and COMMANDING SPUR (App T Tincknell) raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 2: Nemysis Mining Lip Systems Class 3 Plate 1450 metres:
1st – BRUNNER 2nd – WINDSPLITTER 3rd – SHIMAZU 4th – MILITARY TIME

WRONG NUMBER (M Hart) blundered on jumping and lost ground.

FIRST BASE (T Chambers) began awkwardly shifted in abruptly and carried RED DASH (T Hill) in onto BRUNNER (K Ballard).
Near the 1250m SHIMAZU (T Brummell) improved onto the heels RED DASH (T Hill), clipped the heels of that runner and blundered.

WINDSPLITTER (M Cummings), SHIMAZU (T Brummell) and FIRST BASE (T Chambers) raced wide for the majority of the event.

MILITARY TIME (A Spradau) raced wide rounding the home turn.

Jockey T Chambers and trainer Mr P Miller were questioned regarding the poor performance of FIRST BASE which was a last start winner at Cloncurry. Both stated that FIRST BASE does not appreciate the sand track conditions and Mr Miller advised that he will not start FIRST BASE at Mt Isa again.

Race 3: Esco Universal Wear Management Maiden Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – DUSTAL 2nd – WHAT ABOUT NOW 3rd – AMONITA 4th – NORTH SPUR

ZENO LAD was late withdrawal at 10.30am when the gelding was found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr P Inwood was advised that prior to racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.

AMONITA (T Chambers) and GRACE ACE (M Cummings) were slow to begin then raced wide throughout.

WHAT ABOUT NOW (T Hill), NORTH SPUR (A Morrison) and PETRONI (M Hart) raced wide rounding the home turn.

Stewards interviewed trainer Mr P Miller regarding the performance of MARTEAU (A Spradau) which weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. Mr Miller explained that MARTEAU which was having its first race start was still very green and immature and would derive benefit from today’s race. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 4: Esco Blades And Cutting Edges QTIS Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – MASTERFUL PLAY 2nd – CHATEAU D’OR 3rd – SNIPTEM 4th – BRADBURY’S QUEST

MARGINALIZE (M Hart) and ONE STOP (A Badger) were slow to begin.

FATE FOR SURE (A Morrison) raced wide throughout.

MASTERFUL PLAY (T Chambers), CHATEAU D’OR (App T Tincknell) and ONE STOP (A Badger) raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 5: Esco Blades And Cutting Edges QTIS Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres:
1st – GESTICULATION 2nd – SOAP BOX SALLY 3rd – JETEYE WARRIOR 4th -- LADY ISLES

As no other rider was available stewards permitted A Spradau to ride LITTLEMISSPERFECT 4.5kg over its declared weight

Trainer Mr P Inwood was fined $100 under AR140A for presenting MIMI’S ROCKET with the incorrect saddlecloth. App T Tincknell was reprimanded under AR140A for providing trainer Mr P Inwood with the incorrect saddlecloth. Stewards took into account App T Tincknell’s unblemished record in relation to the rule.

JETEYE WARRIOR (A Morrison) shifted in at the start and carried MIMI’S ROCKET (App T Tincknell) in onto LITTLEMISSPERFECT (A Spradau).

CRAIGLEA PIXIE (T Brummell) and DASHING DUB (App C Kropp) made contact at the start.

JETEYE WARRIOR (A Morrison) and LADY ISLES (T Hill) raced wide rounding the 600m turn.

MIMI’S ROCKET (App T Tincknell) and SOAP BOX SALLY (A Badger) raced wide throughout.


Race 6: Eversharp LHD Lip Systems Coppermarket Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – OUTSTANDINGLY 2nd – ALBERTIQUE 3rd – ROCKET ON BY 4th – STELLAR SHOW

Stewards permitted M Hart to replace A Morrison (overweight) on I’M HOT.

I’M HOT (M Hart) began very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and crowded HIGH ON BELIEVING (K Ballard), ROCKET ON BY (App T Tincknell) and OUTSTANDINGLY (A Spradau) in onto ALBERTIQUE (T Chambers).

Shortly after the start T Chambers (ALBERTIQUE) elected to shift wider on the track as she was of the view that it was inferior going closer to the rails. As a result OUTSTANDIGLY (A Spradau), ROCKET ON BY (App T Tincknell), HIGH ON BELIEVING (K Ballard) and I’M HOT (M Hart) were all carried wider on the track.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of HIGH ON BELEIVING jockey K Ballard explained that HIGH ON BELIEVING is horse that can mix it form however was of the view that the gelding did not handle the sand track conditions. His explanation was noted.

Race 7: Esco Australia Mount Isa Cup Open Handicap 1800 metres:
1st – BOLTON 2nd – BUFFETT (NZ) 3rd – TUATARA 4th – FASTER BUSTER

JESTA TIGER (T Brummell) slipped behind on jumping.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable connection of both 2nd and 3rd placegetters the opportunity to view the judge’s photo. After viewing the photo and being satisfied with judge’s decision correct weight was declared.
