GENERAL:
As there were only nine available jockeys attending the meeting, stewards declared the following scratchings. Race 2, HOT AUNTY, LET THE CHIPS FALL, LEMAITRE, A RARE OLD TIME. Race 4, MISS MOOKYCHICK, BURN AND TURN.
Race 1: FNQ SECURITY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
G. Richardson trainer of MANNER LASSIE was reprimanded for failing to provide the identification papers.
The start of this race was delayed awaiting the arrival of the ambulance on course.
SEQUELENE (H. Phillips) began awkwardly and lost ground, then raced wide for the majority of the event.
AMAZZLER (N. Ogura) was slow to begin.
MANNER LASSIE (K. Gates) shifted out at the start and bumped TIME TO CHIME (B. Derbyshire)
Race 2: JEFF SEENY MP/STEVE BENNETT MP CLASS B HCP 1000m
Before the declaration of correct weight stewards approached the judge with concerns with the finishing order of the race. After reviewing the available image, and acting under AR156(1) the judge wished to amend third place, with the official placings to read: 8, 7, 4, 10 and 1.
FISCAL CLIFF (J. Missen) was slow to begin.
COPY THIS (S. Chan) raced wide throughout the event.
Apprentice N. Ogura rider of NOTABITOFWHITE, which finished tailed off was afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance. He stated that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the race and failed to respond when placed under pressure near the 600m. He added that the gelding may not have appreciated the firm surface. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at time of exam.
Race 3: ORICA B’MARK 65 HCP 1200m
TIGERLICIOUS (N. Ogura) was slow to begin and lost considerable ground as a result.
BOLD EMBRACE (B. Newport) was slow to begin.
Leaving the 200m, ZIP ZIP GIRL (B. Derbyshire) had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of DEADLY DENNIS (K. Gates) which shifted in.
C. Kearney reported to stewards that HAYIL METRO may have got its tongue over the bit and chocked down, explaining the poor performance. He stated that he recommended to connections the addition of a tongue tie to the geldings racing gear.
Race 4: PAUL MEDWIN B’MARK 60 HCP 1400m
JACOBUS (B. Newport) and BELLADONNA DELAGO (C. Kearney) were slow to begin.
Near the 200m, JACOBUS had to be checked after improving onto the heels of VAIN DAZZLER (J. Missen) which had commenced to weaken.
After passing the winning post OUTBACK FIGHTER suffered a fracture to its near side fetlock. OUTBACK FIGHTER was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds.
Race 5: EVOLUTION MINNING OPEN HCP 1400m
Correct weight was delayed to allow J. Missen the rider of RELASE ME placed second by the judge, to view the photo print for first. After viewing the print J. Missen was satisfied with the judges placings. Stewards therefore declared correct weight.
CRAZY WAYS (I. Coombes) was slow to begin.
BLAZE TO FORTUNE (B. Derbyshire) raced wide throughout the event.
J. Missen reported at scale that RELEASE ME was inclined to lay out from the 600m onwards.
Near the 100m, APACHE PUP (K. Gates) was tightened for room between RELEASE ME which was laying out and BLAZE TO FORTUNE which shifted in slightly.
