Jockey J.RUDD, the rider of TYCOON TYSON, the winner of the race, was severely reprimanded and reminded of his obligations under AR 137(b) to ride his mounts out to the finish line. Jockey Rudd was advised any contravention of AR 137(b) would result in a substantial penalty being imposed.
Race 1: MACLEAQN PARTNERS/ALL SOULS & ST. GABRIELS SCHOOL 5 STAR SUPERMARKET QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 Metres
1st - FIESTA GAL 2nd - MISS TOBOUGG 3rd - SUCH A PRINCE 4th - DESIGNER GENES
MISS TOBOUGG (P.Cullen) was slow away.
Race 2: MD HUNTER PLANT HIRE/HALLS FIREARMS/OLSSON INDUSTRIES CLASS “B” HANDICAP. 1000 Mertres. 7 Starters.
1st - MAKEM DAZZLE 2nd - SUPER ZERO 3rd - BE REASONABLE 4th - BELLAD
ALMAVALE was declared a scratching as no rider was available.
FULLY FOCUED (P. Cullen) and ESTAMBULLET (G. Cullen) were slow away.
BE REASONABLE (Ms R. Seymour) shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn.
Near the 100 metres SUPER ZERO (J. Babarovich) shifted out under pressure. Jockey Babarovich was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
MAKEM DAZZLE (J. Felix) raced wide throughout.
Race 3: COLEMAN STOCK FEEDS/RINGROSE BUTTON/ BANKWEST CLASS “4” HANDICAP - 1200 Metres
1st - MAD MUSIC 2nd - COUNT OF EIGHT 3rd - IMPASSABLE 4th - CHEVROLET LAD
SHINING CHARM (J. Stopps) was slow to begin and lost considerable ground. Jockey STOPPS was unable to offer any tangible reason for the horse not jumping away with the remainder of the field.
Near the 900 metres CHEVROLET LAD (P. Cullen), had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of COUNT OF EIGHT (R. Semour) which was taken in by JACKY SPLASH (J. Long). Jockey Long was advised to exercise more care in similar situations.
Race 4: PARRY NISSAN PRAIRIE CUP CLASS “6” HANDICAP - 1800 Metres
1st - ARGUED 2nd - NAPPER TANDY (NZ) 3rd - AFAARAWAY 4th - TORO ROSSO (NZ)
TOM FOOLERY (J. Stopps) was retired from the event near the 400m when Jockey Stopps became concerned with the gelding’s action. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off side front fetlock. Acting on Veterinary advice, Stewards advised Trainer Mr. J. Swift, that a Veterinary Certificate of fitness will be required, including an x-ray of the injured fetlock, before TOM FOOLERY would be permitted to race again.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
