Race 1: PLUTO PASTORAL COMPANY CLASS “B” HANDICAP Distance - 1000m. (8 Starters).
1st - ROUGAH 2nd - TIDY’S TAIL 3rd - GRIFFIN GATE 4th - BAYSIDE STAR.
Trainer J.JACKSON produced a Veterinary Certificate clearing CLICKETY CLANG to take its place in this race. Jockey G Cullen the rider of ROUGAH, the winner of the race was questioned regarding the gelding’s racing pattern. Jockey G.CULLEN stated he had missed the start by some three quarters of a length. At the 700 metre turn the gelding shifted outwards making that turn. He was in front making the home turn and had then shifted some four or five horses wide on straightening when under pressure. He then balanced the gelding again, and the gelding had then finished well. He also advised the gelding was having its first start in the west and he believed that the track did not suit. Further the gelding was having its first start for twelve months and the gelding does not yet appear to be in peak racing condition. Jockey CULLEN stated he advised the trainer to experiment with other types of bits. LUKE TOMAHAWK (Ms R.Seymour) was slow (½ length) as the start was effected. GRIFFIN GATE (P.SPRY) raced ungenerously for most of the race. Jockey Spry advised he believed that as the gelding was having its first start in the west it did not appreciate the track conditions and had trouble handling the turns. Apprentice J.RUDD who rode the odds on favourite SCOTTALOT which finished 5th was interviewed regarding that gelding’s performance. Apprentice RUDD advised that SCOTTALOT had cast a near side front plate in running and was lame in that leg on pulling up. A Veterinary Examination R.S.C. Veterinary Incident Report No. 2357 refers. Trainer Mr Bob SNELLING was advised that a Veterinary Certificate indicating the gelding’s fitness to race will have to be presented before the gelding can start again.

Race 2: R.V.S. MOLASSES CLASS “2” HANDICAP. Distance - 800m.
(7 Starters).,
1st - INNOVER 2nd - RACER’S RETURN 3rd - HUSK 4th - LUCOJO
HUSK (Ms R.Seymour) and LUCOJO (M.Tarrant) each lost about three quarters of a length as the start was effected. At about the 650 metres KAPELAS (J.ESSER) shifted outwards momentarily onto LUCOJO but immediately rectified the situation.

Race 3: RICHMOND MOTORS OPEN HANDICAP. Distance - 1200m.
(5 Starters).,
1st - THE SEANSTER 2nd - SUSSEX 3rd - GO TEMPO 4th - SPLASH O’ CASH
As the start was effected SPLASH O’ CASH (Ms R.Seymour) jumped outwards onto THE SEANSTER (G.Cullen) but Jockey Seymour) immediately rectified the situation. Jockey G.Cullen advised the incident did not cost him any ground. DANCE CARD DOLL (Ms A,Ware) which was racing out of its class finished a long distance behind the remainder of the field. Owner Trainer Mr. P. Ievers advised his is now retiring the mare. Sussex (L.Critoph) lost a near side hind plate in running. A Veterinary Examination R.S.C. Veterinary Incident Report No. 2358 refers.

Race 4: SUNCORP METWAY CLASS”3” PLATE Distance - 1400m.
(11 Starters).
1st - BRANCH 2nd - SALTY BAY 3rd - HANS CHRISTIAN
4th - BARCHET
Mr. Bub BAKER trainer of BOSS OF THE BOSS presented a Veterinary Certificate dated 6th November, 2006, (from M.A.PRESTON Pty Ltd), indicating the gelding was suffering from a tendon injury to the near side foreleg and will be unfit to race for a minimum of three months. Jockey J.RUDD (GALITERI)advised that he was inconvenienced when the field came onto the course proper at the 1200 metre mark, from the 1400 metre shute as he was travelling on the inside of the alignment of the running rail at that point. No action was taken as there was no patrol footage available. ANNIE LUCK (Ms R.SEYMOUR), DUMP ‘n’ BURN (Ms A. WARE) and ROYAL BULLION (J.ESSER) were all forced wide when rounding the home turn. BRANCH (P.Spry) lost both front plates in running.

Race 5: CROSBY, BROSNAN 7 CREEN CLASS “5” HANDICAP Distance - 1100m.
1st - BRASS CUTTER 2nd - LAUDERDALE LORD 3rd - REGAL KELLINA 4th - FLASH ARTHUR
NEWMARKET (J.Dagen), raced ungenerously between the 800 metres and the home turn. Mr. BULLET (Ms A.WARE) was obliged to race wide making the home turn. In the straight LAUDERDALE LORD (M.CULLEN) shifted out approximately two horses but did not impede the running of any other runner. Jockey M.CULLEN advised this was because his foot had become entangled in the torn saddle cloth. Jockey M. Tarrant who rode REGAL KELLINA which finished third wished to view the photo finish print before correct weight was declared. This was done and placings were confirmed as had originally been semaphored.

ALL WINNERS AND WESTERN WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED

Eleven riders were available to ride at this meeting, three of which were from the south east corner of the state and had accepted invitations from the Club to ride. Sixteen acceptances were received for the Suncorp Metway Class “3” Plate of $15,250.00. Of the five scratchings one had sustained a serious injury. One was brought to the track from a considerable distance. The other three scratched prior to scratching time but there would be little doubt this was because no riders were available and the large distances involved in getting to the track.
