GENERAL
N. Evans was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR8E(e) in that his negligence led to him being declared to ride at two racing venues on the 26/12/00 and as a result was unable to fulfil his engagements at one of those meetings.
As C. Beets was indisposed through injury the following replacements were approved:

Race 3 CRISOMALOUSA (NZ) W. Tomsett
Race 4 DIAMOND DUKE W. Tomsett

RACING:
RACE 1 CLASS 3 HCP.1800 METRES - (7 STARTERS) IN THE GUN and MALIBU both jumped away awkwardly.
PRINCE OLA was slow to begin.
STRADDIE BOWLING was inclined to over race in the early and middle stages.
RACE 2 CLASS 4 HCP.1000 METRES - (7 STARTERS) No racing incidents to report.
RACE 3 CLASS 1 HCP.1100 METRES - (11 STARTERS) BEREYLA and TAMBO ROAD both jumped away awkwardly.
FLAT and KEPPEL LAIR were both crowded at the start between MANREGO and SARANEE both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 600 metre LIGHTNING KNIGHT (J. Piper) had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of SARANEE (N. Evans) and as a result shifted out obliging KHAKI (P. Moodie) to be steadied off that runners heels.
Inside the 200 metres LIGHTNING KNIGHT and SARANEE made contact after both shifting ground under pressure.
RACE 4 CLASS 6 HCP 1200 METRES - (6 STARTERS) GANCIA SOVEREIGN jumped away awkwardly.
Inside the 400 metres DIAMOND DUKE (W. Tomsett) was hampered and obliged to alter course after being unable to obtain clear running between GANCIA SOVEREIGN (D. Lloyd) and RYDER (W. Welburn).
RACE 5 MAIDEN HCP.1300 METRES - (11 STARTERS). RHUM NEGRITA (D. Evans) was slow to begin.
ON TERMS was crowded at the start between TRULY TWISTED and MAHOGANY JET both of which jumped away awkwardly.
RACE 6 OPEN HCP 1600 METRES - (6 STARTERS) MR. ZODIAC was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1000 metres KAAPSTAR (P. Wheeler) had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of BOURSIER (N. Evans).
BOOKMAKERS: 5 bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
