ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB INC
STEWARD REPORT - TUESDAY 1st MAY 2001

STEWARDS: J Boon (Chairman), D Hensler, N Fox, G Meek, N Vagg (Cadet) & G Scott (Betting)

WEATHER: Fine. TRACK: Good.

RACING
RACE 1 2YO MAIDEN HCP 1000 METRES (11 STARTERS)
The start was amended to 12.52pm due to a medical emergency in the Betting Ring requiring ambulance attendance.

At the start CRAGILEA FAME (N Jolly) jumped inwards.
EVER REGAL (M Barnham) was slow to jump and upon leaving the barriers veered outwards.
EVER REGAL tailed off and upon entering the straight and failed to respond to vigorous riding. Stewards questioned M Barnham, rider of EVER REGAL as to the performance of the gelding. M Barnham stated that upon jumping his mount out it was inclined to race to the outside fence and upon straightening it failed to stretch out. He further added that in the straight he placed the gelding under further pressure, which resulted in no extra effort forthcoming from, EVER REGAL.
A veterinary inspection of EVER REGAL revealed no other abnormality other than a laceration to the off hind pastern. Mr Kelly, trainer of EVER REGAL was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards, prior to its next start.
Approaching the 600 metres RICH STREET (P Moodie) had to be steadied when placed in restricted room by MAPPERLEY MAGIC (W Welburn) which shifted in marginally.

RACE 3 OPEN HCP. 1100 METRES (8 STARTERS)
PASSION POWER (D Johnston) stood flat-footed as the gates opened. Upon leaving the machines PASSION POWER attempted to buck when being struck with the whip by D Johnston. The stewards advised Mr E Godsell, trainer of PASSION POWER that he would be required to provide the stewards with a further barrier certificate prior to the gelding's next start. Mr Godsell added that it was his intention to spell the gelding.
Approaching the 600 metres PASSION POWER struck the running rail.
Approaching the 200 metres INDIANA JACK (D Simmons) was checked as a result of TRUST CLIFF (M Allen) shifting out over the heels of DIRECT WEALTH (M Unwin) which caused crowding to INDIANA JACK. This was further compounded by ABBA JET (J Stephens) which shifted in marginally slightly hampering DIVIOT (P Moodie) in onto INDIANA JACK. After considering all the evidence stewards advised M Allen rider of TRUST CLIFF to exercise more care when placed in similar situations.
