STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 15TH JUNE, 2002

WEATHER –Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL POSITION: Short & Long Course – True Position.
RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300 METRES (13 STARTERS)
Jockey D Tanti was replacement rider for DRIFTWOOD HOUDINI after Jockey A Pattillo failed to make the allotted weight. Jockey Pattillo was charged with a breach of AR120(b) and subsequently fined the sum of $50.
As the start was affected SIR HUNDRED PIPERS (C Beets) jumped inwards and YELLOW WINGS (S Maloney) jumped outwards which resulted in both VENTURE CAPITAL (M Evans) and RECORD BREAKER (P Moodie) being hampered.
DRIFTWOOD HOUDINI (D Tanti) over raced in the early stages of the event.
MARKET WATCH (A Gillett) compounded badly at approx. the 800 metre mark and then tailed off in the field.
INCOMPARABLE (D Simmons) returned to the enclosure suffering an injury to the near hind fetlock this was confirmed by the clubs veterinary surgeon.
RACE 2: SUPER QRIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100 METRES (14 STARTERS)
Trainer Merv Crouch was charged by the Stewards under Lr47 in that he failed to supply a letter of authority to the Stewards 1 hour prior to the starting time of event for his horse FLYING FIBS. Mr Crouch was fined the sum of $50. Mr Crouch was further fined $100 under the terms of Lr42(1) in that he failed to lodge a completed stable return for the said horse. Mr Crouch was further fined $50 under the terms of Ar118A in that FLYING FIBS was presented to the saddling paddock with the incorrect gear.
App J Dagan the rider of MAGIC REGRET was fined $50 under the terms of AR92(12) in that he failed to claim his full allowance on the horse.
As the gates opened TYCOON TED (D Whitmore) threw its head in the air.
PRINCESS MAPPERLEY (D Evans) jumped inwards.
SARANAL (D Simmons) jumped outwards on to MAKENI (D Tanti). SARANAL bucked for quite some distance when leaving the barriers. Trainer Clem Jackson was advised that SARANAL must now successfully pass a minimum of two barrier trails before being permitted to start again.
TYCOON TED (D P Whitmore) raced greenly in middle stages of the event.
FLYING FIBS (J Marks) was steadied momentarily at the 750 metre mark.
RACE 3: CLASS 2 F & M H'CAP - 1100 METRES (11 STARTERS)
Upon returning to scale Jockey S Quick the rider of HERMOINE placed 4th past the post by the judge lodged a protest against CRAIGLEA WAY ridden by L Timson being declared 3rd by the judge. Grounds for the protest was alleged interference at the 600 metre mark. After taking evidence from the riders involved, viewing the patrol films and taking evidence from the connections and on the Stewards own observations, the protest was dismissed and correct weight given on judges placings.
Stewards charged Jockey S Quick under AR165(3) in that she lodged a frivolous protest and issued a penalty of $100.
At approx. the 700 metre mark CRAIGLEA WAY (App L Timson) was steadied from the heels of AIMEE ROSE (M Bennett).
At approx. the 600 metre mark it was noted that CRAIGLEA WAY (APP L Timson) improved onto the heels of BLAZED IN GLORY (A Gillett) and had to be steadied, HERMOINE (S Quick) improved to the outside of CRAIGLEA WAY.
RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP – 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS)
At approx the 800 metre mark SIR RUPERT (S Maloney) hung inwards and hampered the running of ATRE ACCORDE (R Thompson).
At approximately the 600 metre mark LORD KARIOI (App L Morrison) laid in marginally which inconvienced ROTHBURY (J Felix) inwards which then resulted in ETRE ACCORDE ( R Thompson) being hampered for racing room. When rounding the home turn LORD KARIOI (App L Morrison) shifted inwards marginally and inconvienced the running of YALLAH’S POLONAISE (App M Allen).
RACE 5: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1300 METRES (12 STARTERS)
As the start was affected OSCA ERIC (App D Evans) was slow into stride.
Jockey J Marks the rider of INTREPID SEA was charged with careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a) in that at approximately the 1000mtr mark he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of CORD (B.Appo) resulted in that horse being checked. Jockey Marks was found guilty of the charge which was laid against him and his licence to ride in races was suspended from midnight 15/06/2002 up to and including 29/06/2002 being a period covered by 3 Capricorn race meetings.
RACE 6: CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1800 METRES (8 STARTERS)
As the start was affected MARLOCK (A Pattillo) jumped inwards onto MIAMI PIRATE (App D Evans) and HIDDEN VALLEY (A Gillett) jumped outwards onto HE’S ALL OURS (J Marks). Apprentice Evans the rider of MIAMI PIRATE was forced to steady his mount at that stage. HIDDEN VALLEY (A Gillett) hung in badly from the start until approx the 1300 metre mark. Trainer T Hall was advised that HIDDEN VALLEY was now barred from racing until such time as the horse can successfully pass a barrier trial.
RACE 7 OPEN H’CAP – 2000 METRES (15 STARTERS)
Jockey C Beets was a replacement rider for BRIDLE COUCHE when the declared rider A Gillett failed to make the weight. Jockey Andre Gillett made submissions to the Stewards as to why he failed to make the weight and Stewards noted those reasons and issued a reprimand under AR120B.
At approximately the 1500mtr mark when leaving the straight for the first time, LUCKY LAURIE (S.Quick) hung outwards and made contact with WARSAW CONCERTO (App L.Timson) resulting in that horse being inconvenienced. At approximately the 900 metre mark CELASTRAL (S Maloney) had to be steadied when LUCKY LAURIE (S Quick) shifted inwards and BRASSED (D Tanti) shifted outwards. Stewards took no further action apart from advising Jockeys S Quick and D Tanti to show more care in the future.
When questioned regarding the performance of NORPICK Jockey Michael Evans advised the Stewards that the horse had hung out to the first turn and then over raced down the back straight. Stewards noted his comments.
Jockey Dale Evans was severely admonished by the Stewards for allowing his mount RIVA REBEL to shift out over the concluding stages which resulted in SPORTS FREAK ( T IKENUSHI) being dictated outwards onto RAW INSTINCT (R Thompson) which had to be steadied.
Stewards charged Jockey M Bennett the rider of GLEN MONARCH in that he changed gear after weighing out. Jockey Bennett was charged under the terms of AR118A and subsequently fined the sum of $200.
RACE 8 CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200 METRES (15 STARTERS)
As the start was affected EXECUTIVE ROOM (G Evans) jumped outwards.
At approximately the 1000 metre TENBY SOMETHING (A Gillett) shifted inwards, Jockey Gillett had to stop riding and straighten his mount at that stage of the event.
TOPAZIOS (C Beets) was disappointed for a clear run at the 200 metre mark.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
