STEWARDS REPORT – Tuesday 5th November 2002

STEWARDS PANEL: P Cooper (Chairman), N Fox, G Scott

WEATHER –Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL – Short and Long Courses – True Position.

RACE 1: CLASS 2 H'CAP – Abt 1000 METRS (10 STARTERS)
As the start was effected STAR ELMA (App D Evans) and EVRY HANDOUT (Darren Rewald) came together.
At approximately the 450 metre mark MIGHTY CUTE (App D Johnston) laid inwards and hampered the running of BAY BEAUTY (M Barnham), which resulted in LADY LONG LEGS (C Beets) who was travelling behind having to be steadied.
App Darryl Johnston was fined the sum of $50 under the terms of AR144 for failing to weigh in when required to do so.


RACE 2: MAIDEN H'CAP – Abt 1100 METRES (10 STARTERS)
ALOE SEA (M Unwin) jumped outwards as the start was effected.
CEE JAY TEE (M Barnham) was slow into stride.
STAR ALAMEEN (App D Evans) laid in sharply at the 200 metre mark.

RACE 3: CLASS 4 H'CAP - Abt 1100 METRES (7 STARTERS)
STOP WATCH (M.Barnham) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. The horse was withdrawn from the barriers and passed fit to start by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon.

RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP – Abt 1300 METRES (8 STARTERS)
No incidents in running.

RACE 5: 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – Abt 1300 METRES (10 STARTERS)
RIVER OF STARS (J Stephens) over raced in the early stages of the event.
Over the concluding stages of the event SET AND BET (App D Johnston) laid outwards and PRINCESS MAPPERLEY (App Dale Evans) laid inwards which resulted in SCARLET STANZA (M Barnham), which was travelling between the two runners having to be restrained. Stewards admonished both Apprentice Dale Evans and Darryl Johnston and advised both riders to show more care in the future.

BOOKMAKERS – Three (3) bookmakers fielded at the meeting.
