STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 16th November 2002

STEWARDS PANEL: P.Cooper (Chairman) , G. Wust, N. Vagg, G. Scott, H. Lewandowsky (Swab)

WEATHER –Overcast TRACK – Slow

RAIL POSITION: Short Course Rail 2metres 800 to 400 metres. True Elsewhere.
Long course – True position.

RACE 1: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – ABOUT 1400 METRES (10 STARTERS)
As Jockey Darryl Johnston (a) was indisposed for the entire meeting Stewards permitted that G. Evans would be the replacement rider on MISTER BANKER.
At approximately the 800 metre mark BETENOIRE (App H. Watanabe) shifted outwards and made contact with SAINT IG (D. Simmons).

RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP – ABOUT 1000 METRES ( 13 STARTERS)
Stewards permitted Jockey G. Evans to be the replacement rider on OUR SEMAJI replacing Darryl Johnston.
At approximately the 900 metre mark KABALENA CROWN (J Piper) shifted inwards and caused minor inconvenience to FORBIDDEN STAR (G Booth).
Jockey M. Unwin the rider of ALOE SEA was admonished for permitting his horse to shift out at approximately the 200 metre mark, which resulted in BEULAH LAND (J. Stephens) being inconvenienced. Stewards advised Jockey Unwin in future to stop riding and straighten his mount.

RACE 3: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – ABOUT 1100 METRES (10 STARTERS)
No incidents in running.

RACE 4: CLASS 5 HANDICAP – ABOUT 1300 METRES (12 STARTERS)
On application from the Club, Stewards bought this event and the 5th event forward due to inclement weather conditions.
As the start was affected COOLANGATTA (App H. Watanabe) jumped outwards and made contact with ESPIRE (G. Evans). At the same time OBA OBA (C Beets) jumped inwards and made heavy contact with ESPIRE (G. Evans).

RACE 5: OPEN HANDICAP – ABOUT 1300 METRES ( 12 STARTERS)
Starting time for this event was set down for 4.20PM.
Stewards permitted App. T. Mathieson to be the replacement rider on MEGA JET as Jockey Darryl Johnston was indisposed.
At approximately the 1200 metre mark MY KING (App H. Watanabe) shifted inwards and made heavy contact with QUICK LOVE (J Piper) who in turn shifted inwards and hampered the running of CAPTAIN IVOR (D Simmons). Stewards advised App H.Watanabe to show more care in the future.
