STEWARDS PANEL: J Wallis (Chairman), R Doyle, N Vagg, N Fox, B Carrigg (Cadet)

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD

RAIL – Short Course – Out 2m 800m to 400m
RAIL – Long Course – Out 2m 1000m to 600m

GENERAL
Jockey Damien Miller failed to arrive on course and was replaced by A Lane on GUNS ABLACE in Race 5.
Brisbane Stewards have been requested to interview D Miller regarding his absence.
M Bennett was indisposed following a race fall in New South Wales.
Replaced by A Lane on JYI’S PROSPECT in Race 1
Replaced by D Whitmore on MY CHARLIE in Race 2
Replaced by G Evans on ROYSTON ROSE in Race 3
Replaced by R Mules on BRATTLE in Race 4

Trainer M Hicks fined $25 amended Stable Return JYI’S PROSPECT
A phone call was received from owner Murray Troy stating that the float had broken down and that KAAPRIOLA was to be scratched. Stewards phoned Trainer James Gorton and confirmed the scratching. The horse was scratched at 12.40pm.

RACE 1: QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M
JYI’S PROSPECT (A Lane) and SLEEP TONIGHT (J Baker) slowly away.
MISS SNIFFLE (E Hooper) struck the rail of its own accord at about the 550 metres and ran wide on the home turn.
NOW MING (B Appo) shifted out when struck with the whip approaching the line.

RACE 2: QTIS 3YO CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1000M
ROSIELEE MISS (C Beets) was scratched by order of the Stewards at 1.03pm when that horse refused to load. All bets were ordered refunded on that horse and a deduction of 10 cents a win and 10 cents a place were ordered.
CADILLAC DREAM (M Goodwin), UNHINDERED (B Appo) and GREY TURK (M Barnham) were hard to load and were ordered to obtain barrier certificates prior to nominating.
MY CHARLIE (D Whitmore) raced erratically in the early stages.
UNHINDERED (B Appo) struck the fence at about the 600 metres of its own accord.
MISS ALYTA (M Rice) raced greenly over the concluding stages.
MY CHARLIE (D Whitemore) had to steady off the heels of MISS ALYTA at about the 250-metre mark.
Trainer R McCall reported to Stewards that MISS ALYTA had suffered a blow to the off eye during the running of the race. Stewards a veterinary examination of that horse.

RACE 3: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
KOHAYA (D Johnston) and KOREKORE (C Beets) both slowly away.
At about the 1100 metre mark VALHULLA (M Evans) eased the pace causing BELLA BANDITO (B Appo) to check and over race. In doing so he shifted ground-causing inconvenience to CONSPIRACY (M Goodwin), BACKSTAGE GIRL (J Stephens), KINGS MIRROR (M Barnham) and VALIANT LAD (D Simmons). M Evans was warned that easing in the face of a field could be construed as careless riding and would be treated as such.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M
MIDNIGHT FALCON (G Evans) tended to over race in the middle stages.

RACE 5: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
QUESADILLA (D Simmons) refused to settle in the early stages.

RACE 6: OPEN H'CAP – 1400M
Nothing to report.

RACE 7: MAIDEN H’CAP – 1500M
GOLD NAT (M Rice) and PET ROCK (R Mules) were both slowly away.
CAPTAIN SLASH (C Beets) jumped awkwardly.

RACE 8: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1600M
Shortly after the start WALK THE LINE (M Evans) shifted out sharply and bucked dislodging Jockey M Evans who suffered a fracture to the left wrist.
Trainer E Wilkinson was advised that WALK THE LINE would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to renominating.
A protest was lodged by M Hicks Trainer of 5th placed REPRENDRE (J Baker), against O’MINE (G Evans) being declared 2nd and STEAL A MARCH (M Rice) being declared 3rd alleging interference at about the 200-metre mark. After taking evidence, viewing the videos and on their own observations both protests were dismissed.
At a subsequent enquiry G Evans the rider of O’MINE was reprimanded for allowing his mount to drift in under pressure.
