GENERAL
Trainer L Kiernan fined $50 late rider OUTLAY Race 5.
M Goodwin indisposed.
Replaced by A Lane on SHAGEMON Race 1.
Replaced by D Whitmore on SHY YONNIE in Race 3.
Replaced by M Barnham on HAWATINSK in Race 4.
Replaced by G Michaels on DANELINE in Race 6.
Replaced by A Lane on STAR OF CLANG in Race 8.

RACE 1: CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1200M
Nothing to report.

RACE 2: OPEN H'CAP – 1200M
A Lane fined $50 for failing to make the allotted weight on SPIRIT BREAKER. Replaced by N Day.
Shortly after the start PASSER PASSION (B Appo) shifted out sharply off the heels of NEW YORK TIMES (M Barnham) when that horse commenced to lose ground and in doing so came into contact with QUESADILLA (G Michaels).

RACE 3: MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M
VALIANT LAD (G Michaels) slowly away.
Clayton Schumacher the rider of AMBERACE was warned for not riding his mount to the line and the penalty that may be imposed should he be beaten into a place by a fast finishing horse.
At about the 1150 metre mark COMINCIATO (N Day) eased slightly causing SHY YONNIE (D Whitmore) to steady and in doing so SHY YONNIE became unbalanced and lost ground. At about the 1050 metre mark AMBERACE (C Schumacher) eased the pace causing KING’S MIRROR (M Barnham) to steady which in turn inconvenienced COMINCIATO.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1300M
Shortly after the start ELUSIVE DIAMOND (G Michaels) received a bump from HAWATINSK (N Barnham) which was racing erratically on its inside.
GENTLE LOVER (C Schumacher) lost ground over the concluding stages. Stewards ordered a veterinary inspection that revealed that the horse was suffering from crepitance on flexion and extension of both hind fetlock joints indicating arthritis. Soles slightly sore in toe of both front feet as well as lateral quarter of both front feet.
Jockey George Michaels reported that ELUSIVE DIAMOND did not feel right in running and he had been tempted to ease that horse from the race. Stewards ordered a veterinary inspection that revealed no abnormalities noted except for a slight knock to one tooth causing minimal bleeding. Stewards ordered a swab sample to be taken from that horse.





RACE 5: QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
CINDY KATE (M Unwin) jumped inwards coming into contact with OCEANS ELEVEN (N Day).
MON JEWELLER (H Watanabe) jumped outwards coming into contact with RUN LIKE BLAZES (C Beets).
OUTLAY (M Barnham) slow into stride.
Approaching the 900 metres MON JEWELLER shifted out abruptly coming into contact with HONOR’S ADVOCATE (G Evans).
Approaching the 750-metre mark OCEANS ELEVEN had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HONOR’S ADVOCATE that shifted in.
CINDY KATE tended to hang in over the concluding stages.

RACE 6: CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1100M
J Wigginton the trainer of MENTMORE LASS advised Stewards that that horse would be ridden from behind.
At about the 350-metre mark MENTMORE LASS (M Barnham) came into contact with DANELINE (G Michaels) when shifting out to obtain a run.

RACE 7: QTIS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1100M
FLASH ARTHUR (R Mules) over raced throughout giving R Mules a difficult ride.
A veterinary examination of BABE OF THE YEAR revealed dried blood in the near nostril believed to have been caused by a knock in the float. No obvious lesions were detected.

RACE 8: SPECIAL CONDITIONS H’CAP – 1400M
Shortly prior to the field being released COOLANGATTA (C Beets) struck the gates that caused TYCOON TED (L Timson) to become unsettled and rear over backwards in the barriers dislodging L Timson. The horse was removed from the barriers and subjected to a veterinary examination that revealed a knock to the head on the off side causing skin lacerations and bleeding, also blood in the mouth and several minor lesions and mild bruising elsewhere. The horse was scratched on veterinary advice at 4.45pm. L Timson suffered bruising to the top of the left foot.
At the same time MUSTANG RULER (M Barnham) that was in an adjoining stall, was struck in the hind legs but a veterinary examination revealed no injuries and the horse was cleared to start.
SYDNEY SIDER (S Quick) was also withdrawn at the same time when its rider S Quick was struck in the lower back and on the right leg below the knee. The ambulance attendants treated S Quick.
All monies invested on TYCOON TED and SYDNEY SIDER was ordered refunded and a deduction of 44 cents a Win and 26 cents a Place was ordered in accordance with the provisions of the Racing & Betting Act.

ALL WINNERS & ELUSIVE DIAMOND WERE SWABBED.
