ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 03/02/2004

STEWARDS PANEL: J Wallis (Chairman), R Doyle, N Vagg, and B Carrigg

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
T Kruger indisposed and the following replacements were allowed:
Race 1 replaced by L Timson on NED’S MUSIC
Race 4 replaced by S Shield on BELLE D’ACCENT

RACE 1: CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
BUSTLER (B Appo) had to ease from the heels of KOALA (A Patillo) at about the 800m when KOALA shifted in slightly.
ALPHA REGAL (C Beets) shifted in at about the 300m causing HAILSTONE (NZ) (D Simmons) to ease from the heels of NED’S MUSIC (L Timson), which was losing ground.
H Watanabe, the rider of MENTMORE LASS accidentally dropped his whip at the 100m.

RACE 2: OPEN WFA – 1200M
YALLAH STINGER (D Evans) bled for the first time during the race.

RACE 3: MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
As the gates opened, the breastplate on MAPPERNIQUE broke allowing the saddle to slip backwards severely inconveniencing that horse. Stewards inspected the breastplate and found it to be in acceptable condition.
NERO’S FIDDLE (B Appo) jumped inwards making heavy contact with KENNY’S KICK (G Michaels) which in turn made contact with DUFFIELD’S DANE (A Lane). KENNY’S KICK was severely inconvenienced in the incident.
At about the 800m PONYFIED (C Beets) ducked in momentarily causing SPICY AFFAIR (J Stephens) to be checked.
Shortly after straightening NEUF D’OR (S Shield) shifted out inconveniencing MAPPERNIQUE which was attempting a run on its outside. NEUF D’OR then shifted back in and AVE’S LEGEND (D Whitmore) shifted out causing KENNY’S KICK (G Michaels) to be inconvenienced. S Shield was issued with a reprimand for the incident.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
Apprentice E Hooper fined $50 for failing to claim her full allowance.
SLASHED (B Appo) slowly away.

RACE 5: QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
SOUND OF SONG (M Barnham) proved difficult to load and trainer D O’Leary was advised that SOUND OF SONG would be placed in the barriers first in future.
BIG DAVE (M Goodwin) and DELICATE PERMIT (G Booth) slowly away.
NOW MING (B Appo) jumped out into SPARKLE DANE (H Watanabe).
STRICT JOKER (E Hooper) raced wide on the home turn.
MYDAM TWIST lost a near hind plate during the race and its rider M Barnham dropped his whip at about the 100m.





RACE 6: QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
ANDY’S SHADOW (D Whitmore) baulked when attempting a run inside CHILLI BEAN (J Stephens) at about the 700m losing ground.
LUCOJO (J Stanley) was stripped on the near hind during the race and was treated by the veterinarian for lacerations to the near hind.

RACE 7: CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300M
Trainer L Manzelmann was fined $50 for presenting CLASSIC INDEED without blinkers.
Trainer T Cook fined $50 for failing to declare rider on INVERSE RATIO.
COUSY (C Beets) slowly away.
TEDDY’S LUCK (G Booth) over raced in the early stages.

RACE 8: CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1300M
JIMBEEKRAK (G Michaels) tended to hang from the 600m.

ALL WINNERS and YALLAH STINGER WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED

3 BOOKMAKERS FIELDED.
