STEWARDS PANEL: J Wallis (Chairman), R Doyle, N Vagg, G Meek and N Fox

RAIL: Short Course and Long Course out 3.5m entire circumference.

WEATHER – Overcast TRACK – Good
M Barnham indisposed and the following replacements were allowed:
Replaced on RED SARONG by M J Stephens in race 2.
Replaced on POWER LIFTER by D Evans in race 3.
Replaced on CATERER by S Quick in race 5
Replaced on ARTIGAS by A Patillo in race 7
M Barnham advised that a medical certificate would be required.

D Gay indisposed and the following replacements were allowed:
Replaced on RENE’S MAGIC by L Attard in race 4
Replaced on ALL ABOUT CLASS by L Attard in race 8
D Gay advised that a medical certificate would be required.

B Appo indisposed following fall at Mackay
Replaced on WELCOME RAE by M J Stephens in race 4

Prior to race 1 8 jockeys were subjected to a breath test.

RACE 1: CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200M
SMART SET (L Attard) jumped in badly onto FROSTY STAR (J Stephens) forcing that horse in onto PERONISTA (A Patillo).

RACE 2: QTIS 2YO HANDICAP – 1000M
M Evans, the rider of CHA CHA CHARLIE, reprimanded for not riding his mount to the line.
KAN’EMOTOR (D Whitmore) raced wide from the 700m to the home turn.

RACE 3: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000M
At about the 850m HEARD A WHISPER (T Mathieson) shifted out momentarily coming into contact with POINTY STICK (S Quick).

RACE 4: CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300M
An enquiry was conducted into an incident at about the 450m mark in which ARCHER BOY (M Evans), WELCOME RAE (M J Stephens) and AMBERACE (D Evans) had to check and lose ground. S QUICK, the rider of DEEP END, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and suspended from riding in races up to and including the 21st February 2004.
An enquiry was conducted into an incident at about the 75m mark in which ARCHER BOY (M Evans) had to check and lose ground. G Evans, the rider of TYCOON STAR, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and suspended from riding in races up to and including the 21st February 2004.

5: OPEN H’CAP – 1300M
An enquiry was held into a claim by trainer S Brown and apprentice L Timson that she had been booked to ride WESTERN BRACE. Stewards took evidence from a number of persons including trainer K Mylne and apprentice L Attard. Stewards ruled that there was insufficient corroborating evidence to make a ruling on the claim.
MONO BLUE (D Evans) slowly away.

RACE 6: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1600M
H Watanabe, the rider of JAYDEE, dropped his whip at about the 250m.

RACE 7: MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
Apprentice Tracey Mathieson examined by the paramedic on duty and declared unfit from a previous injury sustained during the week and aggravated in the earlier race. Replaced on GRAZIE ANRICO by D Gill.
ARTIGAS (A Patillo) over raced in the early stages.
KAAPRIOLA (W Schmidt) was examined by the veterinarian who reported that KAAPRIOLA had suffered a strained tendon on the near foreleg.
FIRE ANT was examined by the veterinarian who found no abnormalities.

RACE 8: CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1300M
RUN A MUK scratched at 1.25pm on veterinary advice.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
