STEWARDS PANEL: J Wallis (Chairman), R Doyle, G Meek, N Vagg.
WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good
RAIL: Out 4.5 Metres entire circumference.
Race 1 delayed 15 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance.
Race 1- Maiden Plate – 1200 metres
G Evans fined $50 for not being able to make the weight on ROKSYND. As no other rider was available he was permitted to take the ride.
CHUNG LING (H Watanabe) jumped inwards contacting ZOOMERANG (T Mathieson).
Leaving the 750m ZOOMERANG ducked in causing EBONY EDGE (D Simmons) to ease from its heels and this in turn caused MISS ADDICTION (G Booth), which was over racing, to switch out around its heels. Shortly after that MISS ADDICTION ducked in causing EBONY EDGE to be checked.
RACE 2 – CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1200 metres
TIME RULES (J Stephens) fractious in the barriers and slowly away.
RACE 3 – CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300 metres
RADAR ZONE (T Mathieson) jumped awkwardly.
As the field jumped RECORD BREAKER (G Booth) clipped the heels of SNAP ON (C Beets) and dipped.
TRIREME (M Evans) slowly away.
RADAR ZONE disappointed for a run at about the 200m
RADAR ZONE eased from the heels of WHITIORA (J Stephens) at about the 100m when cramped for room.
A veterinary examination of RECORD BREAKER revealed that the horse had sustained a small skin wound to the near hind lateral cannon during the running of the race.
RACE 4 – CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1300 metres.
Hide Watanabe suffered an illness and was conveyed to hospital where he was treated for a suspected allergy. He was replaced on CLASSIC INDEED by D Whitmore.
HEARD A WHISPER (T Mathieson) trapped wide in the early stages.
POINTY STICK (S Quick) shifted in slightly at about the 150m coming into contact with SPEEDITO (D Lloyd) which then shifted in and caused HEARD A WHISPER (T Mathieson) to be checked. D Lloyd was reprimanded for not straightening his mount after the initial bump.
Race 5 – OPEN HANDICAP – 1000 metres.
H Watanabe replaced on WESTERN PLEASURE by T Mathieson.
WESTERN PLEASURE reluctant to load and slowly away.
RECORD TIME (G Evans) jumped awkwardly losing ground and over raced in the early and middle stages with its head in the air.
RACE 6 – CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1000 metres
H Watanabe replaced by G Evans on SYRIA. G Evans was permitted to ride SYRIA 1 kg overweight as no other rider was available.
SYRIA jumped awkwardly with its head in the air shifting outwards and losing ground.
CRAIGLEA LACE (B Dieckmann) held up for a clear run over the concluding stages.
