ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 13/04/2004

STEWARDS PANEL: J Wallis (Chairman), R Doyle, N Vagg, G Meek

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good

GENERAL
A Pattillo indisposed due to race injury at Eagle Farm. Stewards approved the following replacements:
Race 1. D Evans on KALINGA EMMA
Race 2. M Bennett on MOONJET
Race 3. J Stanley on LAURISTAN
Race 4. M Evans on SHAKESPEARIAN
Race 7. M Barnham on GAZA GUY
Race 8. G Evans on RA ECLIPSE

S Shields indisposed. Stewards approved the following replacements:
Race 2. A Lane on MAPPERNIQUE
Race 4. D Whitmore on FIRECRACKER
Race 6. P Hammersley on THE ROAN RANGER
Race 8. A Lane on BONZERO

D Simmons indisposed. Stewards approved the following replacements:
Race 1. M Evans on LOUIE THE FLY
Race 4. T Mathieson on SIR HUNDRED PIPERS
D Simmons was instructed to provide a medical certificate prior to riding again.

RACE 1: QTIS 2YO MAIDEN HCAP – 1000M
FLIP HOSE (P Hammersley) hung badly from the 600 metres to the finish. Trainer J Wigginton was advised that that horse would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to renominating.
ASTARTE (A Lane) inclined to lay out during the race.
HIGH EXCHANGE (J Stephens) jumped inwards onto FLIP HOSE.
THE DECKER (M Bennett) jumped out coming into contact with RAJA’S EDITION (G Evans).
Trainer L Kiernan fined $50 for failing to notify a rider on ASTARTE.

RACE 2: CLASS 3 HCAP – 1000M
MAPPERNIQUE (A Lane) eased off the heels of CONSPIRACY (M Barnham) at about the 600 metres. MAPPERNIQUE disappointed for a run in the straight.
IRIANA STAR was examined by the veterinarian who reported that the horse had suffered a cut to the near fore anterior pastern.

RACE 3: CLASS 5 HCAP – 1200M
M Bennett the rider of TO THE TEST requested to view the patrol video prior to correct weight. Both he and the rider of BOSUN’S PIPER (P Hammersley) were shown the video.
BOSUN’S PIPER (P Hammersley) rolled out and came into contact with TO THE TEST on two occasions shortly after straightening.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HCAP – 1200M
Trainer A Stephens fined $50 for failing to notify a rider for DANATINA (LR70)
Trainer G Taylor fined $50 for failing to notify a rider FERNY DESERT (LR70)
There being no other rider available, Stewards permitted B Dieckmann to rider LET’S GROOVE 2 kgs overweight at the request of the Trainer. At a subsequent enquiry B Dieckmann was charged with an offence under AR120(b) in that he took rides on LET’S GROOVE Race 4; BALMY BAR Race 5 and MR. BALLISTIC Race 8, all of which he could not ride at the allotted weight. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $500 to be paid by the 13th May 2004. If the fine is not paid by that time he will incur a two week suspension.
Trainer A McMahon fined $50 for presenting SIR HUNDRED PIPERS without bandages.

RACE 5: SPECIAL CONDITIONS HCAP – 1200M
CAPANNELLE (J Stephens) slowly away.
Following the race SEMAGIC was examined by the veterinarian and was treated for a cut to the off fore cannon lateral.

RACE 6: MAIDEN HCAP – 1400M
KOREKORE (D Evans) reared as the gates opened losing ground.
THUNDERFUL (C Beets) hung out badly in the straight. The trainer was advised that a warning would be placed on that horse.
FIRE ANT (M Evans) eased from the heels of TILES (NZ) (A Lane) at about the 1000 metres and then commenced to over race.
W Trimble the trainer of GOLDWOOD was spoken to regarding the performance of that horse and advised not to produce it at a TAB meeting until its performance has improved.

RACE 7: CLASS 4 HCAP – 1400M
Trainer D Hansen fined $25 for an amended stable return for FLYING FIBS.
The photo finish failed to operate and Stewards held up correct weight until the numbers were amended and confirmed.

RACE 8: OPEN HCAP – 1500M
Trainer W Wormer was fined $50 for failing to notify a rider for CITICHARM.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
