STEWARDS REPORT

ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB Tuesday 27th July 2004

General:
As Jockey Richard Hall was indisposed the following riding replacements were permitted:
Race 1 Watsford’s Gold – G Booth
Race 7 Private Riley – D Whitmore

As Jockey D Simmons was late on course due to transport problems, the following riding replacement was permitted:
Race 1 Eirie Retreat – D Green

As Jockey M Bennett was unable to make the weight the following rider changes were made:
Race 2 La Polenta – J Stephens
Race 7 Lady Lunchtyme – M Evans
Jockey M Bennett fined $200 AR120 (b)

Race 1: CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1400 metres
Jockey D Whitmore fined $50 LR51 (1) accepting rides on DANCE TO RACE and MR. ROCKET.
LARCENY (M Bennett) tended to over race in the early and middle stages of the race.
MYCENAE (R Barone) tended to over race in the early and middle stages of the race.
LARCENY bled from both nostrils. Trainer John Manzelmann was advised that a mandatory three-month ban would be imposed AR53B.

Race 2: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1500 metres
Trainer John Manzelmann was advised that MAJOR THOMSON would not be permitted to race without blinkers. Trainer Manzelmann advised that he had made a gear change (blinkers off) on the 26th July 2004, this being after acceptances had been declared.
KALKA KISS (C Beets) jumped in the air at the start losing ground.
Over the concluding stages LA POLENTA (J Stephens) and REGIMENTAL (G McKeon) made contact on a couple of occasions. Both riders advised Stewards that their horses were tiring and shifting ground.
SLASHED (D Evans) brushed the fence on a couple of occasions of its own accord at about the 800 metres.
Jockey A Lane fined $250 AR175 (k) negligence in weighing out.



Race 3: TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP - 1100 metres
At the start GENERAL ARTHUR (C Beets) jumped outwards and momentarily hampered REASON TO BE (L Timson).
RECKLESS CANON (D Green) was steadied to avoid the heels of ACTION ROYALE (D Whitmore) over the concluding stages resulting in RECKLESS CANON over reacting coming into contact with REASON TO BE (L Timson).

Race 4: HANDICAP - 1200 metres
When the pace slackened in the early stages DARING MISS (N Day) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BOOBOO (G McKeon).
After leaving the 350 metres mark DARING MISS (N Day) shifted out sharply coming into contact with GLEN IDOL (NZ) (D Evans).

Race 5: MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres
Jockey S Quick (BIG ACE) was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SARANAL (J Stephens).
SUNNY SEQUEL (M Evans) slow into stride.
Stewards enquired into an incident at about the 550-metre mark in which J Stephens mount SARANAL struck the fence. It was found that BIG ACE (S Quick) that was racing greenly shifted in on to SARANAL (J Stephens). Trainer K Fisher will be notified that a warning will be placed on BIG ACE regarding his racing manners. Shortly after that incident BIG ACE struck the heels of THE MISSUS (G McKeon) and lost ground.

Race 6: CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1000 metres
Trainer E Clanfield fined $50 (LR70) failure to declare rider on PAMELA JEAN by prescribed time.
ADAMS ANT (D Green) slowly into stride.

Race 7: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1300 metres
VICTORY SIREN (D Evans) tended to over race in the middle stages shifting out taking BLUE JAM (R Barone) and ROSIELEE MISS (C Beets) wider on the track.
Jockey A Lane was reprimanded for being overweight on NOHOLME GOLD; Stewards found that there were extenuating circumstances.
After leaving the 450-metre mark NOHOLME GOLD (S Quick) shifted out making contact with LADY LUNCHTYME (M Evans) causing BLUE JAM (R Barone) to be taken out across the heels of ROSIELEE MISS (C Beets).

Race 8: CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1300 metres
INVERSE RATIO (D Evans) tended to over race in the early stages.
After leaving the 150-metre mark REDSKIN (R Barone) shifted in under pressure causing PRIDE OF CASS (M Evans) to move in slightly which in turn inconvenienced JAZZARK (J Stephens).
N Day the rider of DELQUILO reported to Stewards that he felt that the horse was lame in front. A vet examination failed to detect abnormality.
Trainer D Forsyth reported to the Stewards that LAURISTAN returned to the enclosure with lacerations to the hind legs.
