RIDER CHANGES:
Agent Bill Rowlands advised stewards that Justin Stanley would be unavailable due to illness. Ipswich stewards have instructed him to produce a medical certificate.
Tracey Mathieson involved in a track accident Rockhampton 17/9/2004 suffering an ankle injury.
Jockey D Johnston advised stewards that he was suffering from an abscessed tooth and could not ride. He was instructed to produce a medical certificate.

Stewards continued an enquiry opened at Mackay into the booking of rides by Agent Bill Rowlands for R Goltz at Mackay on 31/8/2004. A transcript of evidence taken at Mackay was supplied to Bill Rowlands. Mr Rowlands told stewards that at no time did he book rides for R Goltz but did offer suggestions. After hearing his explanations stewards advised Mr Rowlands not become involved in matters over which he has no control.
Race 1: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1) -1000 metres
MIGHTY WALTZ (R Hall) jumped awkwardly losing ground.
BUILT LIKE CLINT (Ms C Rogers) raced erratically over the concluding stages and shifted out sharply past the post almost dislodging Ms C Rogers.
BUSHLEY BEAU, which finished well back, was examined by the Veterinary surgeon and no abnormalities were detected. Stewards ordered a swab sample from the horse.
Race 2:MAIDEN HANDICAP (2) -1000 metres
It was reported that MISTER CRAB had been unruly on the float coming to the races and veterinary examination prior to the race did not detect any abnormalities.
DOC MACLARRY (M Evans) was slowly away and then commenced to over race and had to be eased approaching the 800 metres.
DOUBLE YOU (S Shield) commenced to shift out passing the 700 metres and in doing so took MISTER CRAB (J P Stanley) off the track forcing that horse wide.
GOLDEN AND TRUE (L Timson) was also forced wider by DOUBLE YOU (S Shield).
Trainer A Jenkinson advised that DOUBLE YOU is required to trial over 1000 metres prior to next start.
Race 3: MAIDEN PLATE (3YO & UP) - 1300 metres
KAAPTURED (M J Stephens) was slow away.
ANDY’S SHADOW (M L Evans) jumped out and FINLANDER (N Evans) jumped in at the start.
HE’S ALL SPEED (G McKeon) tended to over race in the early stages of the event.
Race 4: CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1300 metres
At about the 1100m FACIAL (G McKeon) eased and crossed towards the fence and in doing so caused GO SHEPPY GO (A Lane) to steady and shift in. EXEMPLIFY (L Timson) was inconvenienced in the incident.
G McKeon was advised to show more care in future.
Race 5: QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP –1200 metres
Shortly after straightening UDDER BRILLIANCE (M Bennett) rolled in slightly coming into contact with MUSHOOD (D Whitmore) which shifted out slightly after receiving a slight bump from WHITIORA (S Quick) which was shifting ground under pressure resulting in UDDER BRILLIANCE being unbalanced momentarily.
VICTORY SIREN (S Shield) commenced to over race leaving the 800 metres and in doing so shifted out sharply taking SHAKESPEARIAN (D Tanti) wide on the corner.
Approaching the home turn VICTORIAN SIREN clipped the heels of WESTERN JET (A Lane).
A veterinary examination of WESTERN JET found that the horse had suffered superficial wounds to the right hock and coronet. The horse was treated with anti inflammatories.
Race 6: CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1200 metres
MOORABOOL FLYER (L Timson) blundered badly at the start almost dislodging its rider. MOORABOOL FLYER lost a plate on the near side.
During betting Stewards noted the first call fluctuation for INVERSE RATIO was $51.This was queried with the fluctuation operator who stated that she had received that call from the betting supervisor. The betting supervisor was questioned regarding the matter and believed that he had given the correct call to the fluctuation operator. The error was corrected and $5 was semaphored.
Race 7: OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 metres
STREAM GUL (B Stewart) slowly away.
Race 8: CLASS1 HANDICAP – 1500 metres
ADELONG (M Evans) jumped outwards coming into contact with GENTLEMAN JOHN (C Rogers) and LION DOWN (L Timson).
Approaching the 1300 metres HAIL TO RANSOM (M J Stephens) that was pulling hard, shifted out slightly to avoid the heels of MISS FONTEYN (D Green) and in doing so struck the heels of DUFFIELDS DANE (A Lane).
Race 9: QRSE CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1600 metres
Approaching the 1300 metres O’MINE (B Stewart) tended to over race and when being steadied shifted in on to the heels of WISE THOUGHTS (D Simmons).
