Race 1: Maiden Handicap – 1500 metres
1st: EQUITANT 2nd: LEVERAGE 3rd BUNBURY 4th: EBONY EDGE
The first race was delayed for a few minutes due to the late arrival on course of the ambulance.
DIE IS CAST pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 900 metre mark, RUSSIAN CASTLE (NZ) over-raced for some distance.
FIERY MELODY was obliged to race wide approaching the home turn.
DIE IS CAST shifted out over the concluding stages, and RUSSIAN CASTLE (NZ) had to be eased when STILL WATER rolled in approaching the 50 metre mark.
EQUITANT raced greenly over the final 150 metres of the race.

Race 2: Class 6 Handicap – 1100 metres
1st: BRO 2nd: MYDAM TWIST 3rd: MONTE BIANCO 4th: DYNAMIC DANCING
DYNAMIC DANCING was hampered at the start by KINCARDINE, and thereafter was reluctant to race.
KAI CIBO began awkwardly and brushed the side of the gate when jumping, and then shortly after, wanted to hang in for some distance.
Rounding the home turn, OLD GOLD FOR ME raced up on to the heels of MONTE BIANCO, and blundered.
After leaving the 200 metres, KAI CIBO has moved out, taking OLD GOLD FOR ME out onto KINCARDINE, and in so doing, KINCARDINE made contact with the hindquarters of DYNAMIC DANCING. In this incident, jockey D Evans (KAI CIBO) was severely reprimanded under (AR137(a)) for allowing his mount to shift ground when not sufficiently clear.
It was reported to the stewards that the tongue tie on KAI CIBO slipped during the running of the race, resulting in the horse being placed in difficulty, and not running up to expectations.
When interviewed regarding the performance of DYNAMIC DANCING, trainer C Smith reported that in his opinion, the horse had not backed up from a previous hard run.
After the running of the race, jockey A Pattillo (DYNAMIC DANCING), required medical attention for an injured shoulder, and was stood down from his riding engagements for the remainder of the day. A medical certificate will be required prior to future riding engagements.

Race 3: 1st Divn Maiden Handicap – 1100 metres
1st FLEET THE BONGO 2nd ONE ALONE 3rd AEROTIC 4th FOREIGN SILVER
FOREIGN SILVER was slowly away.
DESTIN jumped awkwardly, losing ground.
Leaving the 800 metres, HEARPSIE’S POPPET, which was pulling hard, shifted out away from the heels of AEROTIC, and came into contact with CHIP SHOT.
Approaching the 500 metres, MUCH LOVED, when racing greenly, ducked in abruptly, and became unbalanced.
LAURADJ and NAVAL HERO raced wide in the middle stages to the home turn.
Approaching the 100 metre mark, jockey J Stanley (AEROTIC) has rolled out, taking HEARPSIE’S POPPET wider on the track.

Race 4: 2nd Divn Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st: FLIP HOSE 2nd: FLASH FOR CASH 3rd: TAKE THE CAKE 4th: DIAMOND EDITION
Trainer J Wigginton approached the stewards to replace apprentice B Hull with a senior rider on FLIP HOSE, due to the fact that the horse hung at its last start, and was a difficult ride for a new apprentice. Stewards agreed to jockey G Booth replacing apprentice B Hull on FLIP HOSE.
VAIN SEQUALO was declared a late scratching at the barriers at 1.42pm, by order of the stewards. A veterinary certificate of soundness will be required before the horse starts again.
A deduction of 19 cents a win, and 16 cents a place was declared, and all monies invested on that horse were ordered refunded.
ETERNAL FORTUNE and MISSO HERO were slowly away.
EL SERENO jumped in onto FLASH FOR CASH, and FLIP HOSE and MISSO HERO came together and brushed at the start.
Approaching the 900 metres, FLIP HOSE rolled in and TAKE THE CAKE had to ease from its heels.
Approaching the 800 metre turn, ETERNAL FORTUNE began to race awkwardly, and had to be eased from heels, and took FLIP HOSE wider on the track.
At about the 600 metres, RED HERO began to over-race, became unbalanced, and had to be eased from heels.
Rounding the home turn, COVER IT UP was hampered and placed in restricted racing room when attempting a run to the inside of RED HERO which hung in for 50 metres.
A post race veterinary examination of ANOTHER TUNE revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: Class 1 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st: SANITA 2nd: GENERAL INTEREST 3rd: TIPSY MCSTAGGER 4th BUILT LIKE CLINT
Stewards declared SIR ALISTER a late scratching at 1.35pm, acting under (LR144). An enquiry will be opened into the bonafides of the training connections of this horse.
Trainer C Smith was fined $50 under (LR70(1)) by stewards, for failing to declare a rider for DULACCA DAME by the prescribed time.
Due to the unavailability of an apprentice, stewards permitted jockey D Johnston to replace apprentice B Hull on STAR OF CENTRO.
MISS SANTANA and STAR OF CENTRO brushed at the start.
RAPID RUBY blundered badly at the start.
PIMPALA KANE was hampered between MOURVEDRE and SANITA at the start.

Race 6: Class 3 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st: CLOSED OUT 2nd: JOE DIRT 3rd: PUNTERS REWARD 4th: THAT’S PALEFACE
Due to the unavailability of an apprentice, stewards permitted jockey A Best to replace apprentice B Hull on THAT’S PALEFACE.
At the start, CLOSED OUT jumped in onto GEE GEE MACGREGOR, making contact.
CHABBAZ (NZ) was slowly away.
At about the 500 metres, CLOSED OUT had to be eased off the heels of PUNTERS REWARD.
Apprentice L Fyfe’s mount (CHABBAZ (NZ)) wanted to lay in at the 150 metre mark, and was then held up for clear running approaching the finish line.

Race 7: Open Handicap – 1300 metres
1st: QUARTPOT 2nd: OUR SECRET AGENT 3rd: EXEMPLIFY 4th: ROSIELEE MISS
Due to the unavailability of an apprentice, stewards permitted jockey D Whitmore to replace apprentice B Hull on GROUCHIE PATTERN.
ROSIELEE MISS and STREAM GUL were slowly away.
Approaching the 200 metres, REGIMENTAL was hampered when having to be eased off the heels of the tiring SCANDAL PARK.
ROSIELEE MISS was momentarily held up for clear running at the 200 metre mark.
SCANDAL PARK bled from both nostrils in the race, and was sent for a routine sample. As this was the first occurrence, the stewards endorsed the papers, and the trainer was notified of the required period of embargo placed on the horse.

Race 8: QTIS Class 2 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st: BAY OWL 2nd: NO MORE DREAMS 3rd: REUBENS GOLD 4th: SCARLET SARI
A protest by the 3rd placed horse REUBENS GOLD against the 2nd horse past the post, NO MORE DREAMS alleging interference over the final 150 metres, was dismissed and correct weight was given. In making this decision, stewards believed that the amount of interference suffered did not warrant changing the judges decision.
COLONIAL BILL began awkwardly.
NO MORE DREAMS, ANDY’S SHADOW, and THE ROAN RANGER were slowly away.
SCARLET SARI was racing in restricted room rounding the first turn.
Approaching the 200 metres, REUBENS GOLD was disappointed for a run when racing to the inside of THE ROAN RANGER, which moved away when BAY OWL rolled in.

Race 9: Class 4 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st: ROBERT ROYALE 2nd: BELLO GINO 3rd: JUMPIN’JARED 4th: LACELINE (NZ)
BELLO GINO began awkwardly.
DON PICCOLO jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the 800 metres, BOB’S BID rolled in and tightened BAY OF PLENTY.
Leaving the 200 metres, DANATINA began to shift ground, and as a result, BAY OF PLENTY, which was over-racing and following, had to be checked off the heels of DANATINA.
After this incident, BAY OF PLENTY was held up for clear running for most of the final 100 metres.

GENERAL:
Jockey A Pattillo was unable to fulfill his riding engagements due to an injury received during the running of Race 2. Rider changes are as per the above schedule.
Apprentice B Hull was unable to fulfill his riding engagements due to an injury, which occurred at Murwillumbah racetrack on 8/8/05. Rider changes are as per the above schedule.
Apprentice L Fyfe was fined $200 under (AR92(12)) for failing to claim his full allowance on STILL WATER (Race 1) and BUILT LIKE CLINT (Race 5).

SUMMARY:
