ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB – MONDAY 29TH MAY 2006

Steward’s to-day concluded an adjourned inquiry from Barcaldine Race Club,
Race 1 – BARCALDINE PHARMACY CLASS 6 PLATE, on the 16th April 2006, into the reason M Goodwin, the rider of MR CHIPS was dislodged shortly after the start.

It was established that at approximately the 950m MR CHIPS commenced to buck dislodging its rider, M Goodwin near the 920m, as stewards were of the opinion there was no rider error involved, no further action was taken.

MORANBAH RACE CLUB – TUESDAY 30TH MAY 2006

Steward’s inquired into the reason why trainer F Cowan, had an unlicensed trackwork rider,
R Zackeresen, and two unregistered persons, Mr T Gordon and Mr S Taylor, engaged in work at her stables, at the Moranbah Race Club on Tuesday morning, 30th May 2006.
After hearing all of the evidence, trainer F Cowan was found guilty to a charge under AR175(p) in that she disobeyed a stewards direction by employing MR Zackeresen as a trackwork rider who was known to be unlicensed, and fined the sum of $600.00.
Trainer F Cowan was further found guilty to a charge under LR43 in that she engaged Mr S Taylor and Mr T Gordon in work practices at her stable on Tuesday morning 30th May 2006 and was fined the sum of $400.00.

At further inquiries and after hearing all of the evidence;

Mr Zackeresen was found guilty to a charge under 175(p) in that he disobeyed a steward’s direction and rode trackwork at Moranbah Race Club on Tuesday 30th May 2006, knowing that he was an unlicensed person; Mr Zackeresen was fined the sum of $500.00 and given two months to pay.

Both Mr Taylor and Mr Gordon were found guilty to a charge under LR85(e) in that they engaged in work as a stablehand at the stables of licensed trainer F Cowen when unregistered, Mr Taylor and Mr Gordon were fined the sum $200.00 each.

Race 1: THE ONLY ACCOUNT CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – REGAL MEGAN 2nd – MISS ELOQUENCE 3rd – NATURAL ENERGY 4th – REVERSE SWEEP

BON SIMONE was declared a late scratching at 11.53am by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.


EDGEROI EVE (S Quick) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

FLASH FOR CASH (App C Pay) was slow to begin.

REVERSE SWEEP (App C McIver) began awkwardly losing ground.

Leaving the 300m, PLENTY OF ACTION (M Cant) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NATURAL ENERGY (App C Carrigg) which shifted out to obtain clear running. D Carrigg, the rider of NATURAL ENERGY was reprimanded and advised to show more care when shifting ground.

PLENTY OF ACTION (M Cant) raced wide throughout the race.

Race 2: THE ROCK CASH MANAGEMENT CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1000M.
1st – CALHOUN 2nd – CRAIGLEA EMMA 3rd – FLASH IN THE PAN 4th – DANGEROUS HOST

OPAL TRADER (App L Dillon) was slow to begin.

Both DANGEROUS HOST (M Barnham) and ST SPARTICA (C Beets) began awkwardly.

CRAIGLEA EMMA (App C McIver) was held up for clear running leaving the 400m until near the 100m.

D Evans, the rider of CALHOUN, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 900m he allowed his mount to shift in, dictating the line of ST SPARTICA (C Beets) which was taken in onto CAP JUAN (D Whitmore) which had to be checked and lose its position. D Evans licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two Capricornia meetings, to commence immediately and expire at midnight on Saturday, 10th June 2006.
Race 3: ROCK ADVANTAGE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – SHIFTING SANDS 2nd – REGAL ACCLAIM 3rd – DODA 4th – DUMA STAR

Both REGAL ACCLAIM (M Barnham) and RADAR ALERT (M Cant) were slow to begin.

OUR OLIVER YING (J Stephens) jumped out at the start making contact with DUMA STAR (App C McIver).

At approximately the 700m when the pace slowed, INTUITIVE LAD (App D Carrigg) steadied off the heels of OUR OLIVER YING (J Stephens), REAF SHAR BAYE (C Beets) which was following, improved quickly onto that horses heels having to be restrained and shifted in crowding GUILTY (D Whitmore) which brushed the inside running rail, REGAL ACCLAIM (M Barnham), RADAR ALERT (M Cant) and POTTERS MATE (M Carson) which were following were all inconvenienced having to be steadied, and POTTERS MATE shifted wider on the track as a result. Following an inquiry into this incident, no blame could be attached to any particular rider.

Race 4: HOME LOAN CRUNCHER COUNTRY CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – UMAPRINCE 2nd – GENERATOR 3rd – MR BALLISTIC 4th – PROMISING JOY

PAPER KINGS (G Booth) was slow to begin.

Both FEARLESS RACER (App C Pay) and THAT’S PALEFACE (D Whitmore) began awkwardly.

KOALA (M Cant) shifted out leaving the 500m making contact with THAT’S PALEFACE (D Whitmore) and again near the 400m.

Race 5: HOME – TO – HOME MAIDEN PLATE S/W – 1300M.
1st – SUPREME ASCOT 2nd – CYCLONE GEORGE 3rd – SEQUALO DOLL 4th – REGAL HENRY

BUNBURY (M Stephens) was slow to begin.

OBAN (S Quick) jumped in at the start making contact with SEQUALO DOLL (D Evans).

REGAL HENRY (App C McIver) jumped out at the start brushing MISTER MINOR (D Whitmore) which began awkwardly and then raced wide throughout.



Race 6: THE ROCK BUILDING SOCIETY RISING STARS QTIS 3 & 4 – YO CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1300M.
1st – ROLE OF NED 2nd – DANWANA 3rd – MAGIC SOIREE 4th – MISS CLANG

MAUSOLEUM (App C McIver) was slow to begin and then raced wide throughout the race.

NABIRAZ (M Carson) shifted out shortly after the start making contact with IN JEOPARDY (D Lloyd).

Both IN JEOPARDY (D Lloyd) and NORTHSHORE LADY (App B Young) raced wide throughout the race.

A post race veterinary examination of NORTHSHORE LADY which finished tailed off, revealed the horse to be sore in the near fore fetlock. P Dwyer, the trainer of NORTHSHORE LADY was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to its next start.

Race 7: ROCKSURE INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1400M.
1st – KING OF SPURS 2nd – HONOUR HAPPY LIST 3rd – COLONIAL BILL 4th – COUNT DE RETZ

BROWNSVILLE GIRL (C Beets) was tightened for room at the start between COLONIAL BILL (J Stephens) and REUBENS GOLD (M Barnham) which both shifted ground.

SHAZRADAD (App D Carrigg) began awkwardly losing ground.

KING OF SPURS (D Whitmore) which began awkwardly, shifted in brushing COUNT DE RETZ (App L Dillon) and then shifted out taking DRESS CODE (App C Pay) out onto HONOUR HAPPY LIST (D Evans).

Leaving the 600m OUR YOUNG EMPEROR (M Cant) shifted out making contact with KING OF SPURS (D Whitmore).

HONOUR HAPPY LIST (D Evans) shifted in near the 200m making contact with COLONIAL BILL (M Stephens) and then was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
