Race 1: WIGGO’S BEEF CITY MEATS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M.
1st – SMART GREEN 2nd – MOMBASSA 3rd – TAKE THE CAKE 4th – MADDISON COURT
M Barnham, who was dually booked, was replaced as the rider of DARING GAL by D Evans.
Stewards noted his explanation and no further action was taken.
HEPBURN SPRINGS (S Watkin) was slow to begin.
MADDISON COURT (App L Dillon) began awkwardly losing ground.
HEPBURN SPRINGS (S Watkin) hung out near the 800m for a short distance.
STAR OF TRINITY (A Best) had a tendency to hang out approaching the 750m having to be steadied off the heels of MAJESTIC MOSS (M Barnham).
MADDISON COURT (App L Dillon), after being disappointed for a run to the inside of TAKE THE CAKE (App A Coome) approaching the 300m, was then held up for clear running from the 300m until leaving the 100m.
ENTER MY MIND (N Evans) and MOMBASSA (M Cant) bumped near the finish line when both horses shifted ground.
ENTER MY MIND (N Evans) raced wide throughout the race.
Subject to the declaration of correct weight, stewards determined that the judge had mistakenly notified number 13, MAJESTIC MOSS, as being placed 4th, when in fact the fourth placegetter was number 3, MADDISON COURT. Acting under the provisions of AR156(3), stewards corrected the mistake and altered the placing’s accordingly, 1st SMART GREEN,
2nd MOMBASSA, 3rd TAKE THE CAKE, 4th MADDISON COURT, 5th ENTER MY MIND.
Race 2: MCDONALD’S ROCKHAMPTON CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1600M.
1st – ENCORES AND ROSES 2nd – LEICANAVALANCHE 3rd – MAGIE’S HERO 4th – REUBANS GOLD
The start was delayed when the maintenance tractor broke down on the course proper.
The start was further delayed when EDGEROI EVE (App A Coome) proved difficult to load. C Smith, the trainer of EDGEROI EVE was advised a warning would be placed on that mares barrier manners.
MIDNIGHT GIN (M Cant) began awkwardly.
ENCORES AND ROSES (App L Dillon) was crowded for room at the start between LEICANAVALANCHE (M Bennett) and EDGEROI EVE (App A Coome) which both shifted ground.
M Cant, the rider of MIDNIGHT GIN, when questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of that horse, stated that the horse never felt comfortable throughout the race and failed to respond when placed under pressure. J Wigginton, the trainer of MIDNIGHT GIN, stated that the gelding may not have appreciated the greasy conditions of today’s track and gave an undertaking to advise stewards if anything should come to note that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. A post race veterinary inspection of MIDNIGHT GIN failed to reveal any abnormalities and the horse was swabbed.
Correct weight was delayed when N Evans, the rider of MAGGIE’S HERO weighed in, in excess of ½ kilogram under his allotted weight, under the provisions of AR143, N Evans was permitted to reweigh with the horses bridle and was able to make the allotted weight and correct weight was posted.
At a subsequent inquiry, I Robertson, the trainer of MAGGIES HERO, pleaded guilty, and was fined the sum of $300.00 under AR140A in that he was negligent in the saddling of MAGGIE’S HERO by omitting some of the equipment that the jockey had weighed out with.
Race 3: LACEY’S TJM 4 X 4 MEGASTORE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1500M.
1st – SACRED HARMONY 2nd – MR KESEKI 3rd – TECO 4th – MILGARA
The start was delayed when KAAPTIVE BOUNTY (App L Dillon) broke through the barriers and was quickly restrained.
KAAPTIVE BOUNTY (App L Dillon) and ZITI (App A Coome) were both slow to begin.
Both OCSRAVAGENT (L Timson) and TOTALLY INOCENT (App C McIver) raced wide throughout the race.
A Pattillo, when questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of PERFECT DISGUISE stated that while the horse had travelled well in the early and middle stages, it failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight. Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary inspection of PERFECT DISGUISE failed to reveal any abnormalities.
On returning to scale, LIGHTNING EDGE was found to have bled during the race, as this was the horses first bleeding attack, D Hodge, the trainer of LIGHTNING EDGE was advised the mare would incur the mandatory three month ban from racing acting under AR53A.
Race 4: CITY PRINTING WORKS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – SOUNDSLIKEJAZZ 2nd – TIME TO STAR 3rd – VEILS DOUBLE 4th – VARGAS GIRL
Both VEILS DOUBLE (A Pattillo) and ZERO SPEED LIMIT (J Stephens) were slow to begin.
SOUNDSLIKEJAZZ (M Barnham) began awkwardly.
MY GREEN MACHINE (App C McIver) began awkwardly and knuckled over shortly after the start losing ground.
Approaching the 750m GRACE’S GREY (C Beets) had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of TIME TO STAR (App L Dillon) which shifted out.
Race 5: MAYNE HOMEMAKERS FURNITURE CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – BELLO GINO 2nd – SCARLET SARI 3rd – EQUITANT 4th – RORY’S NORTH
Due to a misunderstanding, N Evans was replaced as the rider of SET FOR STARDOM by A Best.
SCARLET SARI (C Beets) knuckled over at the start.
JUST KNECKING (M Cant) and WALK THE LINE (S Watkin) made contact shortly after the start when both horses shifted ground.
LORD GLENBURY (L Timson) raced wide throughout the race.
Race 6: SHARON TELFORD DENTAL CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M.
1st – CRAIGLEA EMMA 2nd – ENDORPHIN 3rd – YO KIDOKI 4th – MYDAM TWIST
CORRIENTE (D Evans), TENZERO (App T Bannon) and EXCITUM (L Timson) were all slow to begin.
CRAIGLEA EMMA (App C McIver) had a tendency to lay in shortly after the start for a short distance.
Approaching the 900m, EXCITUM (L Timson) became unbalanced and shifted in making contact with the inside running rail.
CRAIGLEA EMMA (App C McIver) lay in under pressure over the concluding stages brushing ENDORPHEN (App L Dillon).
Apprentice L Dillon was examined by the clubs ambulance officers following the event after complaining of illness and passed fit to fulfil his further engagements.
Race 7: DLV FINANCE CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1070M.
1st – SILENT REALM 2nd – DRESS CODE 3rd – RAPID RUBY 4th – HARD WOOD FOREST
SHOCK TROOPER (App D Carrigg) was slow to begin.
HARD WOOD FOREST ( App C McIver) had to be steadied near the 900m when tightened for room between DRESS CODE (M Barnham) and IRON BRIDGE (M Bennett) which shifted in slightly.
IRON BRIDGE (M Bennett) blundered near the 700m.
Race 8: XXXX GOLD OPEN H’CAP – 1070M.
1st – CINDY KATE 2nd – GENERATOR 3rd – ROSIELEE MISS 4th – KOUNELI
Both LIFE’S FORTUNE (A Best) and CRAIGLEA BELLS were slow to begin.
T McMahon, the trainer of CINDY KATE reported the horse returned to scale with a laceration to its near fore fetlock.
