Race 1: MARK BUNT MENSWEAR CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1070M.
1st – PRIMODORO 2nd – HAPPY SPOT 3rd – MONO MAC 4th – FINAL CRUNCH

The start was delayed when HARD WOOD FOREST (M Cant) became fractious in the barriers, becoming cast for a short period. HARD WOOD FOREST was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. L Horstman, the trainer of HARD WOOD FOREST was advised a warning would be placed on that horses barrier manners.

FLEET STREET (App C McIver) was slow to begin.

HANDY HERO (App D Carrigg) lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.




Race 2: ROCKHAMPTON LEAGUES CLUB CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1070M.
1st – GIGGLING BOY 2nd – DUMA STAR 3rd – KENYA KEEPA SECRET 4th – MULESKINNER

CAPRIZANT (App C McIver) was slow to begin.

LAZLO (App L Dillon) which was slow to begin, commenced to race ungenerously shortly after the start and shifted out near the 800m taking MULESKINNER (App A Coome) wider on the track.

GIGGLING BOY (D Johnston) shifted out under pressure over the final 200m causing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

MATERIAL MISS (App D Carrigg) raced wide throughout the race.

Apprentice C McIver, when questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of CAPRIZANT stated that while the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the race it failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight. Stewards noted his explanation.
A post veterinary inspection of CAPRIZANT failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 3: MILNER CONSTRUCTIONS PTY LTD QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M.
1st – FINE SEAS 2nd – NATURAL ENERGY 3rd – DODA 4th – GO ROCK AND ROBIN

NATURAL ENERGY (App D Carrigg) was tightened for room at the start between MY DIAMOND DAN (J Stephens) and IRISH SECRETARIAT (M Barnham) which jumped out.

RIN TIN (App A Taylor) began awkwardly.

MY DIAMOND DAN (J Stephens) raced in restricted room and had to be steadied near the 900m when racing between FINE SEAS (D Whitmore) and RIN TIN (App A Taylor) which became unbalanced and shifted out.

Both FINE SEAS (D Whitmore) and GLORIOSA HONEY (W Moore) raced wide throughout the race.

Apprentice A Taylor, when questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of RIN TIN, stated that after beginning awkwardly, the horse got back further than anticipated and became unbalanced when racing between other runners and then failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight. R Macrae, the trainer of RIN TIN, stated that while being disappointed with the gelding’s performance he was at a loss to explain today’s performance. Mr Macrae gave a further undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to note that may have had a bearing on the horse’s performance today. Stewards noted there explanation.

A post race veterinary examination of RIN TIN failed revealed the horse to have suffered a dislodged tooth in its near side lower jaw.




Race 4: KEPPEL SANDS HOTEL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M.
1st – SEDA SANDATA 2nd – HIGHTONIAN 3rd – KIPCHOGE 4th – KEY ALTO

N Evans, the rider of CARD PLAYER, lost his off side iron for a short distance after that horse began awkwardly, and as a result lost considerable ground.

MR ROMANELLI (App B Young) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start JOEINSKY (D Johnston) had to be checked and lose ground when tightened for room between SUNSHINE START (App C McIver) which was taken out by MOMBASSA (M Cant) which jumped out and KEY ALTO (S Watkin) which shifted in and became unbalanced when momentarily crowded by HIGHTONIAN (J Stephens) which shifted in.

Leaving the 1100m MOMBASSA (M Cant) commenced to race ungenerously and approaching the 800m threw its head in the air and hung out shifting wider on the track. A Jenkinson, the trainer of MOMBASSA was advised a warning would be placed on that horses racing manners.

Leaving the 50m SUNSHINE STAR (App C McIver) shifted out making contact with JOEINSKY (D Johnston) on two occasions.

KIPCHOGE (D Whitmore) raced wide throughout the race.

SEDA SANDATA, lost its near hind plate during the race.

Race 5: ELDERS REAL ESTATE YEPPOON CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1300M.
1st – REGAL ACCLAIM 2nd – MR CRISTI 3rd – BROWNS PLAIN 4th – GOLLY GOLD

Shortly after the start BON SIMONE (C Beets) made heavy contact with FOXYCAT (S Watkin) when it was taken out by BROWNS PLAINS (D Evans) which began awkwardly and shifted out.

BROWNS PLAINS (D Evans) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

GOLLY GOLD (L Timson) raced wide throughout the race.

Race 6: DAIRY FARMERS GLADSTONE OPEN H’CAP – 1400M.
1st – PAPER KINGS 2nd - CORRIENTE 3rd – ST SPARTICA 4th – STORM BUSTER

CORRIENTE (D Evans) was slow to begin.

PAPER KINGS (App A Coome) shifted out shortly after the start making contact with ROYAL REFORM (D Lloyd).

Leaving the 1300m, STORM BUSTER (App L Dillon) had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of PROUD BUCK (App M Radecker) when taken in by GENERATOR (App C McIver) which in turn was taken in by DIFFERENTIAL (N Evans). N Evans the rider of DIFFERENTIAL was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

STORM BUSTER (App L Dillon) was held up for clear running leaving the 400m for a short distance.

Apprentice C McIver, the rider of GENERATOR, dropped his whip near the 250m.

PAPER KINGS (App A Coome) raced wide throughout the race.

When questioned into the seemingly disappointed performance of GENERATOR, Apprentice C McIver stated that the horse did not show its customary dash and in his opinion may not have backed up from its previous run last week. Stewards noted his explanation.

A post race veterinary examination of GENERATOR revealed the horse to have a corneal ulcer on its left eye which may have been of some a discomfort.

Trainer P Camilleri, when questioned into the improved performance of PAPER KINGS, stated that in his opinion the fast early pace and unimpeded run together with the claim of an apprentice jockey was a contributing factor to the horse’s performance today. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 7: QRSE AUTO SHINE ROCKHAMPTON CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1400M.
1st – ROLE OF NED 2nd – JACHAZE 3rd – STAGE SHAKER 4th – LION DOWN

Both ADD IT UP (App A Coome) and SHIFTING SANDS (App M Radecker) were slow to begin.

JACHAZE (D Evans) blundered at the start.

KING OF SPURS (D Whitmore) began awkwardly.

STAGE SHAKER (D Johnston) and POP WILL (M Barnham) made contact at the start when both horses shifted ground.

Approaching the 800m when the pace slackened, ENCORES AND ROSES (App C McIver) had to be steadied off the heels of LION DOWN (L Timson), KING OF SPURS (D Whitmore) which was following had to be steadied and as result STAGE SHAKER (D Johnston) which was racing behind KING OF SPURS had to be steadied to avoid that horses heels and shifted out inconveniencing POP WILL (M Barnham).

Leaving the 800m NO IDEE (N Evans) commenced to lay out and had to be checked off the heels of STAGE SHAKER (D Johnston) and lose ground.

KING OF SPURS (D Whitmore) was held up for clear running from the 300m until the winning post.
