Race 1: OLIMAR MAIDEN H’CAP – 1600M
1st – GENTLE MIND 2nd – MISS KEPPEL 3rd – STUNDER 4th – ZERZER
N. King, the trainer of RODEO RIDE, through her stable representative M. Hicks was fined the sum of $50.00 under LR70 (1) (4) in that she failed to notify a rider for that horse by the prescribed time.
D. Peoples, the trainer of VONMARKNDUNC, through his stable representative A. Clark, was fined the sum of $50.00 under LR70 (1) (4) in that he failed to notify a rider for that horse by the prescribed time.
Due to a misunderstanding, J. Robertson was declared as the rider of LUNAR ROCKET and was replaced by M. Cant.
VONMARKNDUNC (S. Quick) and RODEO RIDE (C. Beets) were both slow to begin.
DEE CEE DEE (App L. Dillon) and MISS KEPPEL (A. Robinson) were tightened for room at the start between KAZOOKA (R. Hall) and AT ODDS (L. Brown) both of which shifted ground.
Shortly after the start, the saddle of ZERZER (App P. Edwards) shifted forward placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
KAZOOKA (R. Hall) raced ungenerously when racing in restricted room leaving the 1500m between GENTLE MIND (T. Bannon) and MISS KEPPEL (A. Robinson) which was over racing and shifted in slightly. MISS KEPPEL continued to over race until near the 800m.
VONMARKNDUNC (S. Quick) had a tendency to over race in the early stages of the race.
LUNAR ROCKET (M. Cant) had to steadied and shift out near the 300m when disappointed for run to the inside of AT ODDS (L. Brown).
Race 2: IRISH HILL DROUGHTMASTERS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M
1st – BOISSIERE 2nd – BANGTAIL 3rd – LOVE AND HOPE 4th – RAVISSEUR
RAVISSEUR (R. Hall) began awkwardly.
PALACE OF DREAMS (A. Robinson) over raced in the early stages of the event.
BANGTAIL (D. Evans) shifted in near the 400m making contact with BURNING ARCH (App K. Pedron).
BANGTAIL (D. Evans) was momentarily held up for clear running near the 250m between RAVISSEUR (R. Hall) and SIXTY MINUTES (App L. Dillon) which shifted out under pressure then shortly after obtaining the run commenced to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.
ADMIRALITA (S. Quick) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 3: FITZROY HOTEL SOCIAL CLUB MAIDEN PLATE S/W – 1000M
1st – OUR BRUISER 2nd – EUDAIMONIA 3rd – PULSIFY 4th – EASY HARMONY
TABELLU (R. Hall) was slow to begin.
GO PUKKA (App K. Pedron) began awkwardly.
PULSIFY (A. Robinson) jumped out at the start making contact with MOSTLY HILLS (App L. Dillon) which in turn shifted out bumping EASY HARMONY (C. Beets).
OUR BRUISER (App T. Bannon) shifted in near the 500m brushing the running rail.
TABELLU (R. Hall) had to be checked near the 450m to avoid the heels of FAST FLO (S. Quick) which was racing greenly and lost ground.
EASY HARMONY (C. Beets) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 4: PETER BOODLES QUALITY MEATS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – FOREIGN CAPITAL 2nd – ASITUATION 3rd – GLENDALE PRIDE 4th – BIRDELLA
L. Rogers, the trainer of HOUSE OF FUN, was fined the sum of $50.00 under LR70 (1) (4) in that he failed to notify a rider for that horse by the prescribed time.
HOUSE OF FUN (App A. Coome) was slow to begin.
KELANCE (D. Hayse) jumped in at the start making contact with EL MIO (J. Stephens) and shortly after shifted out forcing SWORD OF HONOUR (R. Hall) out which made heavy contact with REVOLVA (J. Robertson).
SWORD OF HONOUR (R. Hall) hung out rounding the home turn then a short distance later shifted in hampering HOUSE OF FUN (App A. Coome) which had to steadied as a result.
EL MIO (J. Stephens), KELANCE (D. Hayse) and ENERGIZER (A. Robinson) all raced wide.
Race 5: OLIMAR/RICHARD MANNION MEMORIAL TATTERSALL’S GOLD CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1800M
1st – DINI WHO 2nd – NINANG 3rd – STAGE SHAKER 4th – HONOUR HAPPY LIST
BETTER JETSETTER (L. Brown), HOUSE OF WOODWIND (S. Quick) and FASAADI (A. Robinson) all began awkwardly.
FORADE (C. Beets) hung out rounding the turn out straight the first time taking PACIFIC SEA (J. Stephens) wider.
Race 6: THOMO’S BETTA ELECTRICAL CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1100M
1st – KING’S VALOUR 2nd – FLASH IN THE PAN 3rd – SUBSEQUENCE 4th – LITTLE TOFFEY
Due to a misunderstanding A. Robinson was declared as the rider of LITTLE TOFFEY and was replaced by L. Brown.
FLASH IN THE PAN (App A. Coome) was slow to begin.
REAF SHAR BAYE (App L. Dillon) had to restrained near the 400m when tightened for room by GUDUNOV (J. Stephens) which shifted in. J. Stephens was reprimanded.
Stewards inquired into the reason SPRINGDINGO (D. Whitmore) appeared to become unbalanced near 350m and near the 200m appeared to balk and throw its head in the air. D. Whitmore stated that initially he had thought the horse may have gone amiss but after viewing the official race film it was his opinion that the horse may have resented the blinkers and over reacted when horses come into view. P. Zimmerlie, the trainer of SPRINGDINGO was agreeable with D. Whitmore and added it was only the second time he had experimented with blinkers on the horse and it is his intention that they be removed. Stewards noted their explanations. A post race veterinary examination of SPRINGDINGO failed to reveal any abnormalities.
