GENERAL:
Due to C. Whiteley arriving late on course due to air flight delays he was replaced as the rider of Race 1, EUDAIMONIA – D. Griffin and Race 2, ADMIRAL’S REGRET – S. Evans.
Race 1: HANSEN’S CATERING MAIDEN – 1070M
1st – WEEKEND SHOPPER 2nd – DEBVILLE 3rd – KYLIE’S STAR 4th – SEVENTH MOA
WATUSI (E. Wilkinson) was slow to begin.
DUPLICATED (C. Beets) began awkwardly and blundered and as result shifted out making heavy contact with BELLARA GOLD (App L. Dillon) which was taken in by DEBVILLE (N. Evans) which jumped inwards.
ITCHTOBERICH (App T. Bannon) began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly and then continued to race greenly for the majority of the race. T. Cook, the trainer of ITCHTOBERICH, was advised that the horse must perform to the satisfaction of stewards in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.
KYLIE’S STAR (C. Spry) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 2: THOMO’S BETTA ELECTRICAL MAIDEN H’CAP (1) – 1300M
Due to this race being started at approximately 100m longer than the advertised starting distance stewards declared the event a no race and ordered all monies invested to be refunded. Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons the race was started from the incorrect distance and took evidence from starter Mr R. Harris and assistant starter Mr M. Unwin and adjourned the matter to a date and time to be fixed.
Race 3: HAHN PREMIUM LIGHT MAIDEN H’CAP (2) – 1300M
1st – PULSIFY 2nd – GENERAL NONSENSE 3rd – SATIN DREAM 4th – BLUE PEREGRINE
PULSIFY (C. Whiteley); DRAKE’S PASSAGE (R. Hall) and GENERAL NONSENSE (L. Brown) were all slow to begin.
BLUE PEREGRINE (App L. Dillon) began awkwardly and shifted out and was obliged to race wide in the early stages of the race.
GENERAL NONSENSE (L. Brown) raced wide in the early stages of the event.
Race 4: PARKHURST TAVERN QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1200M
1st – INSPECTOR LEE 2nd – HEDARNY 3rd – FALVADORE 4th – DEO JUVANTE
RUN THE RAPIDS (App S. Holcombe) began awkwardly and made heavy contact with it’s out side barrier gate and lost ground.
GREY ECHELON (J. Stephens) was slow into stride.
JUSTAMINUTE (R. Kerwin) improved onto the heels of CRAIGLEA CHEVY (App C. Dixon) near the 800m and had to be steadied.
PRAIRIE KING (D. Griffin) had a tendency to lay in under pressure leaving the 400m until near the finish line.
CRAIGLEA CHEVY (App C. Dixon) and PRAIRIE KING (D. Griffin) both raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 5: STORM FINANCIAL CLASS 1 H’CAP (1) – 1200M
1st – SYMATINA 2nd – DANE MERCHANT 3rd – PARIS BOY 4th – PERICOLO
KALAHARI PRINCE (App T. Bannon) was slow to begin.
NICKAWAY (App C. Dixon) shifted out near the 600m bumping WANNSEE KNIGHT (J. Stephens).
ASITUATION (E. Wilkinson), SHOOTIN’ THE BREEZE (App S. Holcombe) and SCOTCH GREY (C. Whiteley) all raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 6: LACEY’S TJM 4X4 MEGASTORE CLASS 1 H’CAP (2) – 1200M
1st – KAAPERINA 2nd – BLAST MASTER 3rd – GOLDEN SAILS 4th – GOLD DART
SPIN TWINS (G. Baker) began awkwardly.
HESIOD (App S. Holcombe) began awkwardly and blundered and then raced wide in the early stages of the race.
SLEEKUPONTHEM (C. Spry) was slow into stride and commenced to over race approaching the 800m and shifted out having to be steadied off the heels of GOLD DART (J. Stephens). EMMATAY LANE (App T. Chambers) which was racing back and to the outside of the heels SLEEKUPONTHEM had to be steadied as a result.
SLEEKUPONTHEM (C. Spry) had difficulties in obtaining a clear approaching the 200m until the winning post.
BROOKFIELD BOY (C. Beets) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 7: XXXX GOLD OPEN H’CAP – 1100M
1st – KOUNELI 2nd – BUCK’S SECRET 3rd – SUNTANNED 4th – ONE ALONE
OUR CEASE FIRE (C. Whiteley) began awkwardly.
HIGHEST POWER (R. Hall) was slow into stride.
SUNTANNED (G. Aukram) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.
ONE ALONE (App T. Bannon) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 8: BORAL PLASTERBOARD CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1070M
1st – ME HERE 2nd – THE PLATE 3rd – FAINTLY 4th – COMMISSIONER MAC
The start was delayed when STIPULATION (App T. Bannon) broke through the barriers. After being quickly restrained STIPULATION was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start.
STIPULATION (App T. Bannon) had a tendency to over race in the middle stages of the race.
SPRINGBOK LAD (C. Spry) became unbalanced near the 400m and was steadied.
STRATLIN PARK (C. Beets) raced wide in the early stages of the race.
FAULT LINE (C. Whiteley) and SPRINGBOK LAD (C. Spry) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 9: ADVANCED EXHAUSTS CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1070M
1st – TELFIRE 2nd – LITTLE TOFFY 3rd – RED ENZO 4th – OOPS SORRY
The start was delayed when FINE SEAS (App S. Holcombe) broke through the barriers. After being quickly restrained FINE SEAS was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Due the barrier gates being damaged, all runners from barrier eight (8) outwards were moved out one barrier position.
GRIFFIN GATE (D. Missen) stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost considerable gound.
GENERAL CURVE (R. Hall) began awkwardly.
TELFIRE (D. Hayse) shifted out near the 300m brushing DONALD VICTOR (G. Baker) which was tiring and as a result had to be steadied.
KEY ALTO (L. Brown) raced wide for the majority of the race.
D. Missen, when questioned into the performance of GRIFFIN GATE, stated that after standing flat footed and losing considerable ground at the start the horse then raced wide and had a tendency to lay out in the middle stages of the race and then lay in, in the straight and in his opinion this being the horses first start back after a spell the effort was starting to tell and as such he was reluctant to place the horse under pressure. Stewards noted his explanation. D. Wright, the trainer of GRIFFIN GATE, was advised a warning would be placed on the horses barrier manners.
Race 10: NORMS CAR SALES CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1300M
1st – CRACKAWAY 2nd – REGAL ACCLAIM 3rd – MASSIAH 4th – SPILT MILK
TORO ROSSO (D. Griffin) became awkward on the heels TWOZEES (G. Bakers) and had to be steadied shortly after the start after being taken in by DODGE BALL (S. Evans) which began awkwardly and shifted in.
PATMOSS (App T. Bannon) had to be steadied leaving the 400m when momentarily crowded for room by SPILT MILK (G. Aukram) which shifted out.
A post race veterinary examination of MATINEEIDOL revealed the horse to have injured its off fore tendon.
M. Cooney, the trainer of MATINEEIDOL was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness must be provided prior to the horse starting in a barrier trial or race.
