Whilst it was established that approaching the 100m INNOCENT HARRY did shift in and make contact with LUSTING, stewards could not be satisfied, given the margin of a neck between the two horses at the finish, that had the interference suffered by LUSTING had a material effect on the finishing placings and therefore dismissed the objection.
At a subsequent inquiry, G Baker rider of INNOCENT HARRY was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the 100m, taking LUSTING in onto MY CHARLIE (A Coome) which had to be steadied.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of SNIFTER, Jockey L Dillon stated that in his opinion SNIFTER raced flat and felt that the horse may be feeling the effects of its recent racing program.
