SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Race 1: XXXX GOLD F & M MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M:
1st – Irish Diva 2nd – Whisky Sister 3rd – Sally Jo 4th – Staccato
STACCATO (T. Bannon) dislodged a hind shoe upon arrival at the track and as there was no replacement shoes available, permission was given to remove the hind shoes.
The start of the race was delayed as a result of CARRY ON KHLOE (R. Hall) being difficult to load.
LAILUI (App. A. Taylor) and SECRET SENSATION (C. Whiteley) came together and bumped on jumping away.
Near the 500m JAYLEE (D. Masdil) was tightened for room when racing to the inside of WHISKY SISTER (D. Crossland) which was taken in by COSMIC FLAME (App. A. Coome).
Near the 300m WHISKY SISTER shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped CHARIOT OF JOY (D. Green).
WHISKY SISTER and CHARIOT OF JOY continued to bump on a further two occasions between the 300m and 200m.
ITSOKAY (N. Patchett) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 2: CITY PRINTING WORKS C, G & E MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M:
1st – Seventeen Black 2nd – Asaarfa 3rd – Huntington 4th – Let Fire
LET FIRE (App L. Dillon) jumped away awkwardly.
PEBS MAGIC (App A. Coome) was slow to begin.
SEVENTEEN BLACK (N. Patchett) over raced during the middle stages of the event.
Approaching the 300m, ASAARFA (G. Lee) shifted out to improve and in doing so made heavy contact with MY VAUDEVILLE (D. Green).
Approaching the 200m, CLASS RULER (T. Bannon) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LORD CIRDEC (D. Evans) which shifted out.
HOLYFIELD (A. Pattillo) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post race examination of KADACHI MAN revealed the gelding to have bitten its tongue resulting in the visible presence of blood in its mouth.
Race 3: TROPICAL AUTO GROUP QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000M:
1st – Craiglea Whizard 2nd – Long Road to Glory 3rd – Tia Janesse 4th - Diable
GOLDEN QUALO (T. Bannon) was slow to begin.
DIABLE (App L. Dillon) was tightened on jumping between FLYING OPTION (D. Green) and HIS MOTHER’S SON (G. Baker) both of which shifted ground.
CRAIGLEA WHIZARD (M. Speers) began awkwardly shifted out and hampered TWO BITS (A. Pattillo).
Leaving the 100m DIABLE (App L. Dillon) had to be steadied of the heels of LONG ROAD TO GLORY (A. Coome) which shifted out under pressure.
Race 4: STAN ROBERTS EARTHWORX PTY LTD CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M:
1st – Glendale Pride 2nd – Ready Royal 3rd – Craiglea Tunes 4th – Winnie’s Boy
BUNGALIEN (App L. Dillon) was slow to begin.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of IGLEASIASTIC, Apprentice K. Mizobe stated that the instructions were to lead, however when the horse was challenged for the lead by CRAIGLEA TUNES it resulted in a fast tempo being set. Apprentice K. Mizobe further added that in his opinion the mare would be better suited when able to dictate terms in the race. Trainer M. Lehmann confirmed the instructions and expressed his disappointment in the mares performance. M. Lehmann further added that he would conduct further test and would notify stewards of those results.
C. Symons the rider of READY ROYAL was fined the sum of $100 for returning to scale 1/2kg overweight.
Race 5: HUNTLEYS HEAVY EQUIPMENT PTY LTD CLASS 6 PLATE 1000M:
1st – Growsir 2nd – Perugin Thought 3rd - Azzason 4th – Final Vision
KISTADAN (App. A. Coome) which broke through the barriers prior to the start being affected was examined by the club’s Veterinarian and passed fit to start.
KISTADAN (App. A. Coome), GROWSIR (App. M. Speers) and LOVE GOD (C. Beets) were all slow to begin.
Near the 800m, PERUGIN THOUGHT (D. Crossland) and AZZASON (C. Whiteley) bumped resulting in PERUGIN THOUGHT becoming unbalanced.
Leaving the 300m, PACIFIC SEA (G. Lee) was tightened for room by HATANGI (J. Stephens) which shifted in.
D. Crossland the rider of PERUGIN THOUGHT pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride that gelding out to the end of the race. D. Crossland’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commence at midnight 3 February 2009 and to expire at midnight 17 February 2009.
Race 6: O’MARA’S CAMPER TRAILERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300M:
1st – Iriana Lad 2nd - Cannyclimb 3rd - Olsens 4th – On the Drip
Correct weight was delayed as a result of R. Hall lodging an objection regarding the start of the event. After viewing the film Stewards were satisfied that SUPER STROP lost significant ground at the start of its own accord and therefore declared the horse a runner and subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored.
The start of this race was delayed when KAI ANNA (D. Evans) proved difficult to load.
SUPER STROP (R. Hall) reared as the start was affected resulting in SUPER STROP losing considerable ground.
At the start CAN’T BE TOLD (App. J. Wood) was tightened for room between RIVERLEA CROWN (D. Missen) and GENERAL VANDAL (D. Crossland) which shifted out.
LIQUIDATE (T. Bannon) and CALYPSO MOON (App. A. Coome) were tightened shortly after the start between CHALAMBAR (App. A. Taylor) and IRIANA LAD (A. Pattillo) which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.
Approaching the 600m CHALAMBAR improved up onto the heels of OLSENS (J. Stephens) and had to be steadied. CHALAMBAR continued to overrace until approaching the 400m.
PULSIFY (C. Whiteley) had a tendency to overrace in the middle stages of the event.
Near the 200m CHALAMBAR was tightened for room when racing between ON THE DRIP (C. Beets) and LIQUIDATE which shifted out. A short distance later CHALAMBAR was again tightened when racing to the inside of LIQUIDATE which resulted in CHALAMBAR shifting in and crowding the running of CAN’T BE TOLD (App. J. Wood) and CRAIGLEA SUPREME (App. M. Speers). T. Bannon the rider of LIQUIDATE was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mount when shifting ground.
KAI ANNA raced wide for the majority of the event.
PULSIFY suffered a bleeding attack during the running of this event and acting under the provisions of AR53A the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
Race 7: UNITED FINANCIAL SERVICES OPEN HANDICAP 1300M
1st – Yukon Lad 2nd – Jack and Ice 3rd – Forty Eight Crash 4th – Go the Red
HOUSE OF WOODWIN (G. Baker) was crowded for room shortly after the start when racing between VICTORY SIREN (D. Evans) and KING OF SPURS(R. Hall) which shifted out.
GO THE RED (App. L. Dillon) raced wide throughout.
YUKON LAD (A. Pattillo) was held up for clear running from near the 200m until the 100m.
Near the 100m HOUSE OF WOODWIND (G. Baker) was held up for clear running over the final 100m.
A. Pattillo the rider of YUKON LAD was fined the sum of $100 for returning to scale overweight.
Race 8: SAM’S FENCING CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1600M
1st – Kelance 2nd – Reef Bonanza 3rd – Donald Victor 4th – Four Amigos
NATURAL ENERGY (App. A. Taylor) was slow to begin.
Near the 800m MADIFYOUDONT (NZ) (C. Whiteley) was momentarily crowded for room by EXPENSIVE HOBBY (D. Green) which shifted in.
Approaching the 500m FOUR AMIGOS (App. A. Coome) shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped LAND SHARK (D. Evans).
App. J. Wood got his whip tangled in the reins of DONALD VICTOR which resulted in him not being able to fully test that gelding over the final 100m.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MADIFYOUDONT (NZ) C. Whiteley stated it travelled poorly and was under pressure 600m from the finish. A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed no significant abnormalities.
