As B. Evans was ill, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 1: Amstel Class 1 H’cap - 1800m
Ist Walking On Fire 2nd All I Need 3rd Riverlea Crown 4th - Tayanso

As A. Coome was to be overweight, A. Taylor was substituted as the rider of PRAIRIE KING. A. Coome was fined $100.

TAYANSO (D. Evans) and STAR THEATRE (D. Butler) jumped in the air at the start.

VEILS DOUBLE (C. McIver) was slow to begin.

HA HA NOW (M. Cullen) jumped outwards at the start

TAYANSO pulled hard around the first turn.

When the pace slowed leaving the 1400m, VEILS DOUBLE pulled very hard and had to be restrained off the heels of ALL I NEED (G. Baker).

ALL I NEED was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 300m, ALL I NEED was hampered when taking a run to the inside of BARWON RIVER (C. Beets), which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the 100m, BARWON RIVER was tightened for room between RIVERLEA CROWN (L. Dillon), which shifted in under pressure and made contact with BARWON RIVER and ALL I NEED, which shifted out under pressure. G. Baker, rider of ALL I NEED, was severely reprimanded.

PRAIRIE KING (A. Taylor) raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 2: Castemaine Perkins QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap - 1100m
Ist Top Messiah 2nd Get That Indya 3rd Craiglea Fancy 4th - Ahnighito

Trainers A. O’Sullivan was N. Hole were each fined $100 for failing to declared riders by the prescribed time.

WOODEN EYE JOE (C. McIver) and TOP MESSIAH (B. Stewart) were tightened for room on jumping away between LEEWANGO (A Taylor), which shifted out slightly, and AHNIGHITO (D. Evans), which shifted in slightly.

CRAIGLEA FANCY K. Mizobe) was tightened for room at the start between COLUMNS (C. Whiteley) and LYNNDELLS LAD (M. Stephens) which shifted in at the start.

SOON OF TSUMAI (A. Coome) jumped outwards and brushed GET THAT INDYA (R. Kirwan) at the start.

Leaving the 800m, LEEWANGO clipped the heels of TOP MESSSIAH, dislodging A. Taylor. An inquiry was opened and evidence was taken from A. Coome, rider of SON OF TSUIMAI), D. Evans, rider of AHNIGHITO and B. Stewart, rider of TOP MESSIAH. The inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow A. Taylor, who was transported to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for observation, to give evidence.

Stewards have also opened an inquiry into the reason for C. McIver being dislodged from WOODEN EYE JOE near the 300m. After taking evidence from A. Coome (SON OF TSUIMAI), B. Stewart (TOP MESSIAH) and R. Kerwin (GET THAT INDYA), the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow C. McIver, who was transported to the Rockhampton Base Hospital with a shoulder injury, to give evidence.


Race 3: XXX Bitter Maiden H’cap - 1300m
Ist With Finesse 2nd Craiglea Marilyn 3rd Trust The Moment 4th - Stunder

Trainer M. Stafford was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SLIP UP by the prescribed time.

The start of this race was put back to 2.07 due to C. McIver and A. Taylor being attended to by the ambulance bearers.

SUMMER IN THE CITY (L. Dillon) broke through the barriers, which delayed the start slightly.

ALUDRA (C. Whiteley) began awkwardly and lost ground.

A. Coome, rider of VALLEY MOON, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out over the concluding stages, hampering SLIP UP (G. Baker).

SALLY JO (M. Stephens) and SLIP UP (G. Baker) raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 4: Ted Platinum Class 1 H’cap - 1200m
Ist Dextrus 2nd Dr Frankenstein 3rd Regal Mountain 4th - Mystified Moment

The starting time of this race was rescheduled to 2.37 pm.

SPRINGBOK LAD (A. Coome) was tightened for room on jumping away between PERICOLO (A. Pattillo) and BOSS HOG (B. Stewart), which jumped inwards.

IRISH DIVA (A. Butler) was slow to begin.

FAIR COMPANION, BOSS HOG and BIZANTE (C. Whiteley) raced wide for the majority of the race.

DR FRANKENSTEIN (D. Simmons) was inclined to lay out in the home straight.


Race 5: Tooheys Extra Dry Class 6 Plate - 1000m
Ist Carry The Clubs 2nd True General 3rd Storm Action 4th - Soundslikejazz

No racing incidents.

Following the running of race 5, stewards inspected the track and due to the surface being waterlogged following a heavy shower of rain, the track was deemed unsafe for a continuation of racing.

Race 7: XXXX Gold Open H’cap - 1400m

DINI WHO was declared a late scratching at 2.47 pm by order of the stewards acting under AR50 due to a discrepancy in the ownership.
