Race 1:CENTRAL QUEENSLAND HOTELS GROUP MAIDEN PLATE 1400M:
1st – Valley Moon 2nd – Craiglea Marilyn 3rd – Trust the Moment 4th – Summer in the City

NAVAL HERO (App K. Mizobe) was declared a late withdrawal at 1.37pm acting on veterinary advice after the gelding dislodged App K. Mizobe and galloped a lap of the track. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on NAVAL HERO be less the deductions of 3c in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and 4c in the dollar on the face value of the place ticket.

As no other suitable rider was available Apprentice A. Taylor replaced D. Evans as the rider of GENDARME as D. Evans was dually engaged. Stewards accepted the explanation as to why D. Evans was dually engaged.

SKYDECK (App A. Butler) was slow to begin.

At the start, MISS GYPSY KAAT (C. Beets) was tightened for room between ROYAL DEBUTANTE (N. Patchett) and STUNDER (D. Whitmore) which jumped out.

Near the 900m, ROYAL DEBUTANTE (N. Patchett) commenced to over race and did so until passing the 700m.

Leaving the 800m, GENDARME (App A. Taylor) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GLENDHU (J. Robertson) which was racing ungenerously and shifted in.

CRAGLEA MARILYN (D. Evans) was held up for clear running from passing the 350m and until near the 150m.

STUNDER (D. Whitmore) had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

MISS GYPSY KAAT (C. Beets) and SUMMER IN THE CITY (App L. Dillon) both raced wide for the majority of the event.

Trainer T. Button was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of CRAIGLEA MARILYN which proved difficult to load.



Race 2: KAWANA PANELAND AND PAINT CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100M:
1st – Foreign Capital 2nd – Red Story 3rd – Tower Bridge 4th – Burning Arch

Due to a misunderstanding Apprentice A. Coome was replaced by N. Patchett as the rider of ROCKING MELODY.

At the start, RED STORY (App L. Dillon) jumped out making contact with FALVEROSA (App A. Taylor).

Near the 900m, FOREIGN CAPITAL (D. Evans) was tightened for room by SIXTY MINUTES (D. Carrigg) which was taken in by TOWER BRIDGE (App A. Coome).

Near the 800m, SIXTY MINUTES (D. Carrigg) had to be steadied when tightened for room by TOWER BRIDGE (App A. Coome). Apprentice A. Coome was reprimanded.

J. Stephens the rider of WANNSEE KNIGHT was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that leaving the 300m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BURNING ARCH (M. Cant) resulting in BURNING ARCH having to be checked and lose its position. J. Stephens licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 1 meeting (Capricornia) to commence at midnight 21st April 2009 and to expire at midnight 25th April 2009.

BURNING ARCH (M. Cant) was held up for clear running from passing the 200m and until near the 100m.

FALVEROSA (App A. Taylor) was held up for clear running from passing the 150m and until approaching the winning post.

Race 3: FAMILY DAY CARE DLV FINANCE CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1100M:
1st – Glendale Pride 2nd – Diagram 3rd – Me Here 4th – Flying Squaw

Due to a misunderstanding Apprentice A. Coome was replaced by N. Patchett as the rider of GLENDALE PRIDE.

Prior to the start being effected ME HERE (App A. Butler) broke through the barriers and as a result a short time later the remaining barriers opened prematurely resulting in a false start and as a result a number of horses had completed a lap of the track. After all horses had returned the saddling enclosure, stewards in consultation with all trainers and Veterinary Surgeon Mr. R Olsen decided that the race would be rerun at 4.45pm following the running of Race 5.

IRON BRIDGE (App L. Dillon) was declared a late withdrawal at 3.15pm after trainer D. Schultz elected not to rerun IRON BRIDGE after the last race.

Shortly after the start, FLYING SQUAW (App K. Mizobe) was tightened for room between ADMIRAL RODGERS (C. Beets) and GLENDALE PRIDE (N. Patchett) which shifted in.

SYMATINA (D. Carrigg) over raced during the early and middle stages.


Race 4: CAPRICORNIA TRAINING COMPANY 2YO CLASSIC HANDICAP 1200M:
1st – Craiglea Blondie 2nd – Origin Brave 3rd – The Reporter 4th – Tia Janese


At the start, BRENNAN (App K. Mizobe) was tightened for room between SON OF TSUIMAI (R. Hall) and CRAIGLEA BLONDIE (B. Olbrecht) which shifted in.

Apprentice A. Coome the rider of ORIGIN BRAVE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 50m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of THE REPORTER (D. Evans) and as a result THE REPORTER had to be checked and lose its position. Apprentice A. Coome’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 2 meetings (Capricornia) to commence at midnight 21st April 2009 and to expire at midnight 30th April 2009.

GIGGLE ‘N’ GOSSIP (D. Carrigg) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 5: THE ROCK BUILDING SOCIETY CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1300M:
1st – Cristi’s Idol 2nd – Two Tone 3rd – Sir Les 4th – Boombalarda


TUSCAN VALLEY (M. Cant) reared as the gates opened and lost ground.

CHALAMBAR (App A. Taylor) and TUSCAN VALLEY (M. Cant) both raced wide for the majority of the event.

J. Robertson the rider of TWO TONE pleaded guilty to a charge under AR144 in that he failed to weigh in when required to do so. J. Robertson was fined the sum of $300.
