In the early stages HOLY SPRING (A. Coome) raced keenly.
JUST FOR KEEPS (T. O'Hara) began awkwardly and lost some ground. Jockey O'Hara reported that after placing JUST FOR KEEPS under pressure near the 900 metres she was unable to restrain the gelding, which shifted out and took up a forward position, then raced 3 wide for the remainder of the event.
Near the 900 metres PRECIOUS LILLY (J. Stephens), which was over-racing, improved onto the heels of YOU'RE MINE (App. A. Allen). At the same time DAME JUDARIUS (D. Hayse) was restrained from the heels of DON'T TELL ALI (L Dillon). PRECIOUS LILLY shifted out and became awkward on the heels of DAME JUDARIUS, taking CRACOW (App. A. Butler) out to a three wide position.
When questioned as to the performance of HOLY SPRING, Jockey A. Coome stated that he was of the opinion that the mare was somewhat disappointing and he was of the opinion that he may have erred in maintaining a position outside of the leader, rather than allowing the horse to stride forward. Jockey Coome added, however, that the mare travelled well throughout the event and failed to run on over the concluding stages.
Race 3: Bacardi Oakheart Maiden Plate - 1200 metres
1st GRIZZLE 2nd LITTLE DAZZLER 3rd FANTASTIC EIGHT 4th - INDY MISS
LITTLE DAZZLER (A. Coome) dipped on jumping.

ROSIE'S BON BON (M. Usher) and JACKSON MAGIC (App. L. Tilley) were slow to begin.
GRIZZLE (App. A. Butler) raced wide until near the 700 metres.
Near the 300 metres LITTLE DAZZLER shifted out to improve, taking SPACE JAM (App. B. Appo) out and causing SUGAR RAY (C. Whiteley) to be shifted out and make contact with HOOKED ON PLATINUM, which was taken wider.
Near the 200 metres GRIZZLE shifted out and bumped INDY MISS (B. Stewart), which shifted out. In the incident Jockey Stewart lost his whip.
Jockey C Pye lost her whip near the 50 metres.
HOOKED ON PLATINUM (D. Hayse) and SEA CREST (S. Evans) raced wide throughout.
App. A. Butler, the rider of GRIZZLE, was fined $200 under A.R. 137A (5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres and also in 3 consecutive strides.
Race 4: Toohey’s Extra Dry Class 3 Plate - 1050 metres
1st STORMWOOD 2nd MCFERRIN 3rd KILLER WASP 4th - NODREMS
Prior to the race trainer D. Johnston informed stewards that Jockey A. Coome would be instructed to take up a position on ISA TALA, which was drawn wide, back in the field. Public announcements were made accordingly. Jockey Coome was able to obtain a midfield position.
The start was delayed when WICKENBY (D. Hayse) required farrier attention.
SUITE ANNIE (S. McGovern) was a little slow to begin and was then hampered when KID ALAPRIS (T. Bannon) laid out shortly after the start.
NODREMS (App. S. Fawke) jumped awkwardly, threw its head in the air and made contact with Apprentice A. Allen, the rider of CONSTANT CRAVING.
MCFERRIN (App. B. Appo) raced wide throughout.
PAPARAZZI (C. Whiteley) was retired from the event near the 400 metres. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed an injury to the near foreleg. Subsequent veterinary examinations revealed a slab fracture to the near fore knee. A veterinary certificate will be required in the event the mare returns to racing.
A post-race veterinary examination of ISA TALA revealed soreness in the off fore shoulder. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next race start.
Jockey D. Hayse was reprimanded under A.R. 142 for failing to weigh in after riding WICKENBY into 5th place.
Race 5: Hahn Premium Light QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1100 metres
1st CRAIGLEA FIESTA 2nd SIMON BON ROCKET 3rd CRAIGLEA DUCATI 4th - LA MINA
I'M DESPERATE TOO (S. Evans) was slow to begin, shifted in and made contact with HOTEL PARADISO (App. S. Fawke).
As the start was effected MYTHOLOGIST (App. L. Tilley), which had been throwing its head about in the barriers, bounded in the air and lost ground, then raced wide throughout.
ZAHA DREAM (T. O'Hara) raced wide throughout.
Stewards inquired into the riding of App. L. Tilley, the rider of MYTHOLOGIST, and the performance of the gelding. App. Tilley stated that his instructions were to lead if possible and then to improve throughout the event, and if unable to do so, to have the horse in a handy position to be able to improve into the race, bearing in mind that the gelding was starting from a wide barrier. App. Tilley said that when the horse jumped in the air at the start he lost possibly two lengths, however he elected to go forward and obtain a handy position wide on the track. In regard to the gelding's performance, App. Tilley said that MYTHOLOGIST raced well for the majority of the event and when placed under pressure responded only fairly, however it flattened out from approximately the 200 metres under the heavy impost of 60 kg over the concluding stages. App. Tilley agreed with the stewards' assessment that he may have erred after losing ground at the start by not taking up a position midfield closer to the running rail. App. Tilley added that he was mindful that this would have been contrary to his instructions and also that the trainer was of the opinion that the gelding does not race well back in the field.
A post-race veterinary examination of HOTEL PARADISO revealed that the gelding was showing a poor post-race recovery rate.
Race 6: Summer Bright BM 75 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st VANDALISED 2nd SCHRAPNEL GULLY 3rd El SUPREMO 4th - POWER TO EXCEED
Stewards accepted the explanation by trainer G. Bell for the late notification of Jockey T. O'Hara as the rider of POWER TO EXCEED.
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred near the 1200 metres where VANDALISED (B. Stewart) shifted in when not sufficiently clear of EL SUPREMO (L. Dillon), which had to be steadied and lost ground. Jockey Stewart was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.
Trainer J. McConachy advised stewards that VANDALISED will now be sent for a spell.
App. B. Appo was reprimanded under A.R. 142 for failing to weigh in after riding FIVE O'CLOCK into 5th place.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding and performance of LANSDOWNE ROAD (App. A. Allen). After taking evidence from trainer T. Button and Apprentice A. Allen, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of LANSDOWNE ROAD revealed that the gelding was showing a poor post-race recovery rate and suspected soreness in the near foreleg.
