The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow App. R. Payne, the rider of THE LAD'S MY DAD, to examine the official photo finish. Having done so she was satisfied with the judge's placings and correct weight was semaphored.

DARK MATTER - Was a little slow to begin.

MANILA ACADEMY - When questioned regarding the performance the rider stated that the gelding was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. He said that when placed under pressure from the 400 metres his mount failed to run on and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer S. Rundle confirmed that the gelding will now be spelled.

Race 4: Toohey’s Extra Dry Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st PRIMED FOR DESTINY 2nd LITTLE MOUNTAIN 3rd ALLGIRL 4th - FERRIGNO

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Jockey A. Taylor and trainer G. Taylor viewed the available patrol films with the intention of lodging an objection against ALLGIRL being declared 2nd. After doing so, they elected not to proceed with any objection. However, acting under the provisions of A.R. 164, stewards on behalf of the connections of LITTLE MOUNTAIN, which finished 3rd, lodged an objection against ALLGIRL being declared 2nd placegetter, alleging interference near the 400 metres. After considering the evidence taken from the riders and trainers involved, it was established that approaching the 400 metres ALLGIRL shifted out, taking LITTLE MOUNTAIN outwards, causing that gelding to lose ground. Stewards were of the opinion that had the incident not occurred LITTLE MOUNTAIN would have finished ahead of ALLGIRL, bearing in mind the margin of a short head between the two runners at the finish. In the circumstances, the protest was upheld and the placings amended as follows: 1st, PRIMED FOR DESTINY; 2nd LITTLE MOUNTAIN, 3rd ALL GIRL.

Jockey M. Barnham pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 400 metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of LITTLE MOUNTAIN, which was taken out onto PEEARN, causing CASH FOR MURTAL to be taken outwards, steadied and lose its rightful running. Jockey Barnham was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 2 CQ meetings, to commence at midnight on Thursday 4th December 2014, up to and including Sunday 7th December 2014. In deciding on penalty stewards were mindful of the exceptional riding record of Jockey Barnham.

LITTLE MOUNTAIN, PRIMED FOR DESTINY and ALL ROSIE - Slow to begin.

FASTINATIO - raced wide throughout.

PEEARN - Had to be eased near the 900 metres when another runner laid in.

GARY THE CONMAN - Lost ground near the 700 metres, which resulted in a runner which was following shifting out and hampering another runner.

RAPID DRAGON - Near 700 metres shifted out.

MACHO TYCOON - Hampered and taken wider near the 700 metres.

Race 5: Bacardi Oakheart Class 2 Handicap - 1100 metres

REGENT TERRACE - Approaching the 600 metres shifted in slightly and tightened the running of another runner. App. B. Appo reprimanded.

Race 6: Hahn 3.5 Class 1 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st SERENE SAGA 2nd ZARADA ANGEL 3rd HOPE SPRINGS 4th - GHANA

DAM FLASH - Delayed the start when it lunged forward, was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Near the 900 metres tightened another runner racing to its inside. When questioned regarding his riding in the home straight, Jockey B. El-Issa stated that the gelding failed to travel comfortably throughout the event. He said that he placed the horse under pressure in the home straight, again near the 400 metres and again near the 200 metres, but the gelding failed to respond. Jockey El-Issa was advised that he must endeavour to ride his mounts right out to the finish.

EPICOZ - Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels of a tiring runner near the 400 metres and had to be steadied.

MONTANA HERO - Made contact with another runner on jumping.

OUTBACK SAPPER - Made contact on jumping. Raced wide throughout.

WAFFLE - Raced wide throughout.

STAMPEDE STRAP - Raced wide throughout.

SAY MY NAME - Near the 900 metres became awkward momentarily when racing inside another runner.

GHANA - Rider reported that his mount was inclined to lay out in the home straight.
