RACE 1: BLACK TOYOTA CORN FED SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES 2–Y–O &
3–Y–O MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M.
ZOE’S LAD jumped in and across the running of SNATCHEM JACK, which was slowly away.
GEBRSELASSIE and MICK OR MICHAEL dwelt as the gates opened.
VIVA ROCK was slowly away.
LORD CLINTON hung out from the 700m.
On returning to scale P Moodie (MICK OR MICHAEL) and C Taylor (VIVA ROCK) made an application to stewards to have their mounts declared a non-runner, as their gates were slow to open. After hearing evidence from the riders, starter and viewing of the patrol film, stewards declared MICK OR MICHAEL a definite starter as his gate was only marginally slow to open and stewards did not believe his performance was affected by the incident.
VIVA ROCK was declared a non-runner as stewards believed his performance was affected by his gate being slow to open. Deductions on all win bets were paid fewer 7 cents in the $1 win and 8 cents in the $1 place.
It was also noted that the gate of GEBRESLASSIE was marginally slow to open.

RACE 2: CARLTON CREST CLASS 6 H'CAP – 900M.
WIN’S SECRET, which was slowly away, was hampered by CURLYLAMBEAU, which jumped out.
Near the 600m RED MORATO became unbalanced for a short distance whilst being eased from the heels of RUSH DECISION.
Near the 250m RUSH DECISION rolled in making contact with the running rail.
Time off 2.18 pm.
RACE 3: CARLTON DRAUGHT PRESIDENT’S OPEN H'CAP - 1200M.
Near the 550m DIGNIFY shifted in making heavy contact with rhe running rail.
Time off 3.00 pm.
RACE 4: G H MITCHELL & SONS MAIDEN H'CAP – 900M.
STOMPEM, which got its head caught under the starting gate, was subsequently inspected by the vet and cleared to start.
HONORARIUM, DON’T BLINK and ZEPHYR MAN were slowly away.
Leaving the 600m. STOMPEM and FURTHER ROAD were crowded for room whilst racing to the inside of PADDY’S BLUES.
D Rewald (ZEPHYR MAN) dropped his whip on the home turn.
Time off 3.45 pm.
RACE 5: STATHAM CHEESMAN CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1000M.
MOVING STAR jumped in the air as the gates opened.
MACARONEY jumped awkwardly.
CLIPS, CLEO’S CHARIOT and PANNAWARRA were slowly away.
Approaching the 600m. PANNAWARRA attempted to buck.
MILLICNET EM shifted in near the 100m.
Jockey A Lane (MILLICENT EM) reported that he was of the opinion that there was something amiss with his mount. A subsequent veterinary inspection of the mare revealed that she had an irregular heartbeat and a slow recovery. Trainer C Smith was advised that the mare was required to undergo an ECG and obtain a veterinary clearance prior to her next start.
