SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

From Charleville 27-3-10

Race 5

Jockey C Bryen the rider of BANG CLANG ALANG was reprimanded for striking his mount with the whip in the forehand manner on more than the permitted 5 times prior to the 100m.

RACE 1: EASTER IN THE COUNTRY MAIDEN PLATE 1000M-
1st-Al Dente 2nd-Boyng 3rd-Paper Tigress 4th-Ralfiennes

LIGHTNING FLASH was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 7:45am as there was no rider available. As betting had not commenced no deductions to betting were to apply.

Jockey A. Taylor (RALFIENNES) who was dislodged during the preliminary was examined by the ambulance officials and was cleared to fulfil her riding engagements.

MILLS AND BOOM (D Monaghan) began awkwardly losing ground.

RALFIENNES and SLIDE BY SLIDE (S Sweedman) came together on jumping away.

Stewards questioned App. S Sweedman in relation to the performance of SLIDE BY SLIDE which performed below market expectations. App Sweedman stated that due to being first up from a spell today the gelding had a tendency to over race and as such was forced to race in a more forward position than its normal racing pattern. App. Sweedman further stated that the gelding was under pressure from the 500m and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race Veterinary Inspection of SLIDE BY SLIDE failed to reveal any abnormalities.


RACE 2: HOT CROSS BUN CLASS B H’CAP 1000M-
1ST-Frostinoss 2nd-Tims Image 3rd Nashama 4th-Horazov

CATCHING was declared a Late Scratching by order of the Stewards at 1:15pm acting on Veterinary Advise after the gelding was found to be lame in the near fore tendon. As betting had not commenced no deductions were to apply. Trainer R Benfer was advised that CATCHING would require a Veterinary Certificate of soundness prior to next racing.

HORAZOV (R Kerwin) jumped out at the start making heavy contact with FROSTINOSS (A Taylor) which in turn shifted out making contact with NASHAMA (C Schumacher).

RACE 3: POST FLOOD CLASS 2 H’CAP 1200M-
1ST-Amarocco Special 2nd-Legal Fee 3rd-Stomp the Yard 4th-All for Rome

As there was no other rider available Stewards permitted S Sweedman to ride SNIP OF LICHEN 1kg overweight. Jockey Sweedman was fined $100 for accepting a ride when overweight.

AMAROCCO SPECIAL (R Kerwin) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1000m, RAISE THE SOUND (C Bryen) was forced to ease when ALL FOR ROME (C Schumacher) shifted in when not completely clear.


RACE 4: XXXX GOLD CLASS 6 PLATE 1200M-
1st-Glasgow Town 2nd-Departure 3rd-Conchenka

Stewards questioned Trainer D Baker in relation to the nomination and acceptance of TENNESSEE BLUE which was scratched at the scratching deadline. Mr Baker stated that TENNESSEE BLUE had sustained an injury to its off fore tendon following the acceptance deadline which will result in the gelding having to be spelled for a period of time. Stewards noted Mr Baker explanation however ordered that a Veterinary Certificate be produced to the Stewards outlining TENNESSEE BLUE’S injury.

A post race Veterinary Inspection of CONCHENKA revealed that the gelding to be lame in both fore legs. Stable foreman for the C Smith stable Mr N Dowrick was advised that CONCHENKA would need a Veterinary Certificate of soundness prior to next racing.


RACE 5: ROMA TYRE AND BATTERY OPEN H’CAP 900M-
1ST-Haylergal 2nd-Major Boyington 3rd-Verge of Discovery 4th-Bonza Bronze

BONZA BRONZE (J Warrington) blundered badly on jumping away.

SILVER DANE (C Schumacher) blundered on jumping away, resulting in the gelding racing further back in the field than its normal racing pattern.

Stewards questioned Jockey D Monaghan in relation to the performance of MINI MAIZING which performed below market expectations. Jockey Monaghan stated that near the 650m, he was forced wider on the track by VERGE OF DISCOVERY (R Kerwin) which hung out, resulting in the gelding having to race wide for the remainder of the event. Jockey Monaghan further advised that in his opinion the gelding struggled carrying 59.5kg and remained one paced over the final 200m of the event. Stewards noted jockey Monaghan explanation.

Stewards reprimanded App. R Cox in relation to his conduct in the jockey’s room following the last race whereby he used obscene language on several occasions. App. Cox was advised that conduct of a similar nature in the future would not be accepted and should he re offend more severe action would be taken.
