RACE 1: FK GARDNER & SONS GROUP PLATE 1000M-
1st-Combat Cuddles 2nd-Adularia 3rd-Talking Nonsense 4th-Bahsa
CYCLONE STEVE (A Taylor) which was slow to begin, was further hampered at the start by COMBAT CUDDLES (L McCoy) which jumped out.
BAHSA (W Clasohm) began awkwardly.
HALFBACK KID (N Tomizawa) blundered on jumping away.
Stewards questioned Jockey W Clasohm and Trainer T Sears in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of BAHSA which performed below market expectations. Jockey Clasohm advised Stewards that the gelding only began fairly however was able to obtain a good position throughout the run. Jockey Clasohm further added that BAHSA commenced to hang out rounding the 600m turn until entering the home straight where the gelding ran on fairly to the line. Mr Sears stated that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the tight turning sand track today and would be better suited racing on a bigger track and would improve with further racing experience as today was only the BAHSA’S second run in a race. Stewards noted the explanation.
RACE 2:MCINNES WILSON HANDICAP CLASS 3 1000M-
1ST-Playful Paris 2nd-Only Looking 3rd-Meghani 4th-Magic John
BUILT TOUGH (M O’Brien) was slow to begin.
MAGIC JOHN (S Egan) began awkwardly.
App. M O’Brien reported to stewards that BUILT TOUGH failed to handle the tight turning sand track today which in her opinion was the major contributing factor in the gelding’s poor performance today.
Stewards questioned trainer G Baker in relation to the seemingly improved performance of PLAYFUL PARIS. Mr Baker advised that this was the mares first run for his stable and therefore could not explain the previous poor performances of PLAYFUL PARIS. Mr Baker further advised that the mare had been working well in preparation for today’s event and therefore expected a forward showing today. Stewards noted the explanation.
Stewards questioned Jockey R Kerwin in relation to the disappointing performance of PRINCE OF MONACO. Jockey Kerwin advised Stewards that PRINCE OF MONACO travelled well throughout the run however when asked to sprint the gelding failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Jockey Kerwin added that in her opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer B Waldron also expressed his disappointment in the performance and advised that the gelding will be sent for an immediate spell. Stewards noted the explanation.
Jockey R Goltz reported that RAMO KAHO never travelled comfortably on the sand racing surface today and was not entirely suited on the tight turning track which resulted in the gelding running below expectations.
Stewards questioned Jockey N Tomizawa in relation to the performance of QUEENOF BEAUDESERT which raced back in the field today and proved disappointing. Jockey Tomizawa reported that he was instructed to obtain a forward position today and therefore rode aggressively during the early stages of the event. He added that as the mare failed to show its customary speed he used his whip in a backhand manner on occasions during the first 400m of the event in an attempt to obtain a more forward position however the mare still failed to respond to his riding. Jockey Tomizawa further added that at no stage did QUEENOFBEAUDESERT feel comfortable on today’s sand racing surface and that the mare also resented the kickback off the track which resulted in the poor performance today. Stewards noted jockey Tomizawa’s explanation.
RACE 3: CONDON TREASURE HANDICAP 1200M-
1ST-Bradbury Chocolate 2nd-Astralon 3rd-Ballard Boy 4th-Tatyoon

HARDWICK, COPPER PIN (W Doyle) and CANDY CAN (A Lane) were all tightened for room at the start between LUNAR ROCKET (S Egan) and KAMADIVA (A Smith) which jumped in. As a result HARDWICK lost ground and settled further back in the field than anticipated.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion TED THE BEAR (M O’Brien) was checked when tightened for room between FIRST OPTION (C Bryen) and CATABOLIC (S McCullum) which shifted in after being taken in marginally by COBBANVILLA (L McCoy). Stewards after giving consideration to the incident issued App. S McCullum with a reprimand for allowing his mount to shift in when not completely clear of TED THE BEAR causing that runner to lose its rightful running. Stewards also advised jockey L McCoy to exercise more care for momentarily placing the runners to her inside in restricted room.

Approaching the 1200m, LAPEL which was racing keenly improved onto the heels of EQUITANT, when the pace of the race steadied, and became unbalanced for a short distance whilst being restrained.
Jockey A Lane the rider of DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY was fined $200 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the finish of the event.
