SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Following advice from C. Munce’s manager that he had been delayed unexpectedly through media interviews which prevented him from arriving to meet his commitments in Races 1 and 2, stewards acknowledged the circumstances and imposed no penalty.

Race 1: CLARKE MCEWAN ACCOUNTANTS MAIDEN PLATE - 1600m
1st – Craic Of Magic 2nd – Torquay’s Tiara 3rd – Mikinta 4th – Sancy Diamond

L. Deguara replaced C. Munce, who was delayed travelling to the racecourse, as the rider of KING OF THE STARS.

SHADY DEAL (K. Pope), SANCY DIAMOND (J. Bowditch) and TORQUAY'S TIARA (P. Hammersley) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start CRAIC OF MAGIC (J. Wood) was hampered when MIKINTA (M. Hellyer) shifted out slightly.

OUR GOLD STASH (P. Wolfgram) and SHADY DEAL raced three wide for the majority of the event.

At the 400m TARMAC (K. Mizobe) shifted out to improve and made contact with SHADY DEAL.

KING OF THE STARS (L. Deguara) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SHADY DEAL, K. Pope stated that after missing the start the horse did not travel well and at the 800m was under pressure. He added that the horse struggled to maintain its position and did not finish the race off as expected. Trainer H. Reed was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance, indicating that the horse has trained well on the synthetic surface and had raced satisfactorily on it on a previous occasion. A post-race veterinary examination of SHADY DEAL revealed no abnormalities. Trainer H. Reed undertook to notify stewards of anything that may come to his notice that had an effect on the horse’s disappointing run today.

Race 2: BOSS CONSTRUCTION H’CAP - 1100m
1st – Seaside Dancer 2nd – Waterford Gold 3rd – Rich Kingdom 4th – Covert Coin

Trainer C. Morphy was fined $100 under LR. 36 for failing to declare J. Wood as the rider of WATERFORD GOLD by the prescribed time.

As C. Munce was delayed in arriving on course, M. Hellyer was substituted as the rider of ATTUNGA.

CLOSE RANGE (M. O'Brien) jumped in the air and missed the start. Trainer N. Saunders was advised that a warning was being placed on the mare.

ATTUNGA (M. Hellyer), RAINBOW GARNET (J. Holder) and LIGHT IN THE FIELD (T. Huxham) also missed the start.

Near the 800m RICH KINGDOM (M. Cahill) was momentarily unbalanced when racing in restricted room inside of SEASIDE DANCER (P. Wolfgram).

When being restrained to take a trail approaching the first turn RAINBOW GARNET got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously and was then obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the event before compounding over the latter stages.

For some distance approaching the home turn RICH KINGDOM was inclined to lay out.

After leaving the 400m apprentice B. Looker had difficulty fully testing MUCHO MUCHO DENIRO due to it laying in.

Near the 200m JUST READY (E. Wilkinson) raced greenly and shifted out, inconveniencing DANZACTION (J. Taylor).

RICH KINGDOM shifted outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 3: STRAWBERRY FIELDS H’CAP - 1100m
1st – Velvet Knight 2nd – Gemmars Girl 3rd – Yo’s Selection 4th – Belago

GUNSHIP was a late scratching at 11.15 a.m. Trainer D. Steinbeck was fined $200 under AR. 114 for failing to scratch by the prescribed time.

MISS SANDREINE was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.58 p.m. when the horse was kicked behind the barriers, sustaining an injury to the nearside stifle. Following the late withdrawal of MISS SANDREINE, stewards ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded, with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply to bets placed prior to scratching time.

Connections of BELLA MONTANA (K. Mizobe) were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare, as it became fractious on entering the track and was reluctant to proceed to the barriers.

YO’S SELECTION (S. Katsidis), which jumped away awkwardly and missed the start, was cramped for room a short distance after the start between GEMMARS GIRL (M. Cahill), which shifted out slightly, and BELAGO (K. Sawyers), which shifted in slightly.

Near the 800m YO’S SELECTION (S. Katsidis) and ASCEND (I. Coombes) made contact. A short distance later FLAWLESS RUSSIAN (M. Heagney) was then tightened between ASCEND, which shifted out, and BELLA MONTANA, which shifted in slightly.

BELLA MONTANA was inclined to lay in under pressure in the run to the finish.

Following this race, apprentice B. Wallace reported that SPECIAL VERDICT did not travel well on the synthetic surface.

A post-race veterinary examination of WHISKY RIVER (J. Wood) revealed no abnormalities other than that the gelding lost its off hind plate in running.

VELVET KNIGHT (J. Kropp) was found to have bled from both nostrils some time after the race. Trainer T. Miller was advised that the mandatory embargo of a ban from racing for three months will apply under AR. 53A(4).

Race 4: TOSHIBA H’CAP - 1100m
1st – Dai Kon 2nd – My Elixa 3rd – Warando Street 4th – Stickman

Correct weight was delayed following an application by jockey S. Galloway that MY ELIXA be declared a non-runner on the basis that it had been denied a fair start. After hearing evidence from S. Galloway, the starter Mr P. Brittain and viewing the official film, stewards were satisfied that the horse had been afforded the opportunity of a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.

MY ELIXA (S. Galloway), which became fractious in the barriers, jumped in the air as the start was effected, losing ground.

GOLD LAND (M. Heagney) and STICKMAN (P. Hammersley) made contact on jumping away. Shortly afterwards GOLD LAND shifted out on to WARANDO STREET (B. Wallace), causing that horse to be checked and lose its position. Apprentice B. Wallace reported that after being checked at the start the horse then seemed somewhat reluctant to race and was hard ridden when it was having difficulty maintaining contact with the main body of the field.

Approaching the first turn MATAI (R. Hinricks) became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of STICKMAN (P. Hammersley), which shifted in when not fully clear. P. Hammersley was cautioned and advised to provide more clearance in future when crossing.

Race 5: OFFICE CHOICE H’CAP - 1000m
1st – Norocos 2nd – Mossriver 3rd – Touch It 4th – Texas Red

WORLD WE LIVE IN was a late scratching at 1.45 p.m. when trainer T. Gayler advised stewards that the horse had sustained an injury. When questioned regarding the late withdrawal of WORLD WE LIVE IN, trainer T. Gayler advised stewards that he had notified Racing Services earlier this morning after he had noticed the injury.

ROYAL CRUSADER (O. Turpin) jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with NOROCOS (C. Munce), which jumped inwards at the start.

SPECIAL DRAGON (M. Hellyer) jumped away awkwardly.

MOSSRIVER (M. Cahill) shifted out at the start and brushed EMERALD ISLE (B. Richardson).

NOROCOS became unbalanced when being restrained rounding the first turn.

Race 7: MARY MCKILLOP H’CAP - 1600m
1st – Bellavonane 2nd – Count Iglesia 3rd – Twilight Express 4th – Fear ‘N’ Loathing

A veterinary examination of FEARLESS HERO behind the barriers cleared the horse to race.

J. Wood was dislodged from MAGIC PEARL (J. Wood) which jumped away awkwardly when it jumped in the air, unbalancing him. Connections were advised that the horse must pass a further barrier test before racing again. Apprentice J. Wood was uninjured in the incident.

INVERNESS (M. Hellyer) was slow to jump.

Near the 800m FEAR 'N' LOATHING (J. Bowditch) was severely checked when crossed by the riderless MAGIC PEARL.

HEWILLDO (K. Sawyers) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

FEARLESS HERO (R. Hinricks) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HEWILLDO, K. Sawyers explained that the horse was under pressure from the 600m and failed to finish the race off as expected. He added that over the concluding stages he felt something may have been amiss with the horse compared to its good form prior to today. Trainer H. Dew agreed that the horse’s performance today was disappointing, however he felt the horse may have resented having to be steadied when the riderless MAGIC PEARL shifted in across the running of FEAR 'N' LOATHING near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination of HEWILLDO revealed no abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of ALPHA TOWN (J. Holder) revealed no abnormalities other than that the horse had cast its off fore shoe in running.

1st – Silvern 2nd – Craiglea Falcon 3rd – Daneodin 4th – Ima Joker

CRAIGLEA FALCON (J. Kropp) was slow into stride.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FASLIYEV DANCER, S. Katsidis explained that connections had instructed him to ride the horse aggressively today and in an endeavour to obtain a position he had to ride the horse hard and rounding the first turn had the horse placed midfield with cover, despite being three wide. He added that from the 600m the horse was under pressure and did not finish the race off. Trainer T Bailey’s representative indicated that after having discussions with the trainer post-race it was decided to end the horse’s current racing program and send it for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination of FASLIYEV DANCER revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

Near the 1400m HARNEY (M. Cahill) and DUAL ECHELON (J. Holder) bumped.
