RACE 1
PIONEER INTERNATIONAL HANDICAP 1400 metres
As R. Griffiths was to be overweight he was replaced on CHROME TIP by N. Day.
R. Griffiths was subsequently fined the sum of $50.
The start was delayed when HEAVENLY GOLD had to be replated prior to the start.
Shortly after the start COSMIC POWER had to be steadied off the heels of SUN SCREEN which shifted out and away from DONNIE BRASCO.
After passing the 1200 metres SUN SCREEN had to be steadied off the heels of BENGAL RASCAL which shifted in.
A post race Veterinary examination of HEAVENLY GOLD which finished a distant last revealed the colt had pulled up in a distressed state. HEAVENLY GOLD was sent to be swabbed.
RACE 2
PIONEER CALOUNDRA HANDICAP 1400 metres
ANNIE'S REGRET and MISS TROOLIGHT were both slow to begin.
RACE 3
PIONEER NOOSA HANDICAP 1300 metres
HAGAR THE HORRIBLE reared as the gates were released and lost considerable ground.
PRISTINE RIVER was slow to begin.
Following the running of race 3 jockey B. Stewart was stood down by the Club Doctor and was subsequently replaced on ALJERER (Race 8) by J. Taylor.

PIONEER SOCIAL CLUB HANDICAP 1200 metres
RIVER GYPSY was inclined to shift out under pressure in the straight placing its rider T. Treichel at a disadvantage.
RACE 5
PIONEER CENTRAL DISPATCH HANDICAP 1200 metres
BON MARAUDER jumped away awkwardly.
Making the 800 metres turn STORM DANCER and DENINGS LANE made contact.
RACE 6
PIONEER CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS HANDICAP 1000 metres
The race was incident free.
RACE 7
OASIS RESORT HANDICAP 1000 metres
Trainer M. Mair as fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for LATIN QUARTER by the required time.
LATIN QUARTER and ROCKEFELLER were both slow to begin.
RACE 8
CALOUNDRA CITY HANDICAP 1800 metres
TOTAL POSSESSION jumped away awkwardly.
A short distance after the start TOTAL POSSESSION shifted out and made contact with CLANCY'S GOLD.
A post race Veterinary examination of TOTAL POSSESSION which compounded in the straight failed to reveal any abnormality.
All winners plus HEAVENLY GOLD (Race 1) were swabbed.
