STEWARDS REPORT Sunday August 22nd 1999

WEATHER: Overcast
TRACK RATING: Good
Moveable rail out 7 metres for the entire event.

QPC CADET STEWARD: Miss S. Gillespie.

RACE 1
NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE HANDICAP 1300 metres

Trainer P. Duff was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for PAST AND PRESENT by the required time.
As S. Katsidis was indisposed he was replaced on CACHINK by S. Galloway and on PERSIAN'S LUCK (Race 2) by J. Pollard.
PAST AND PRESENT was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1000 metres MARTINGALE had to be steadied off the heels of LOCHDHU.
When pulling hard approaching the 800 metres TIDY TOM improved up on to the heels of BISCAY MAX and had to be severely checked.
TIDY TOM continued to over race and at the 500 metres TIDY TOM again had to be checked off the heels of BISCAY MAX.
Trainer T. Miller was advised that CELTIC CONNECTION which bled, will now incur the mandatory three month ban from racing.


RACE 2
ICONS PRODUCTION HOUSE HANDICAP 1300 metres

As N. Jolly was indisposed he was replaced on EXPRESS FAITH by B. Compton.
MAKE A WISH jumped away awkwardly.
EXPRESS FAITH shifted in shortly after the start hampering MAGIC POET.
Approaching the 700 metres LITTLE FISH shifted in and made contact with the running rail. As a result LITTLE FISH then shifted out taking MAKE A WISH and SOUFFLE wider on the track.
A short distance later LITTLE FISH shifted out and made contact with MAKE A WISH.
Jockey T. Unwin rider of LITTLE FISH was reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip on a horse out of contention.


RACE 3
TRAUGOTT-GARRATTY FAMILY HANDICAP 1000 metres

AL PARLAY jumped away awkwardly, a short disance later shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of BUCKLERS HARD.
After passing the 200 metres BUCKLERS HARD was cramped for room between TWIRL and MAID IN PARIS which shifted out slightly.

Race 3 Contd..
After passing the 100 metres BUCKLERS HARD had to be steadied off the heels of MAID IN PARIS which shifted in slightly.
Over the concluding stages MISTER BOSS had to be steadied when tightened for room between SAHARA SNAADEE and TWIRL both of which shifted ground.


RACE 4
NOFFKE PLUMBING HANDICAP 1400 metres

After passing the 1300 metres JUFFEL DANCER had to be steadied off the heels of LIGHT FUSE which shifted in.
Making the home turn NOTHING SPECIAL was momentarily tightened for room between SOAP KING and LIGHT FUSE which shifted out to improve.
TREASURE PACK was forced to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 5
BIG FRESH MAROOCHYDORE DAFFODIL DAY HANDICAP 1800 metres
When being restrained approaching the 1600 metres EMOTIONAL GIRL shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of HELP YOURSELF.
Leaving the 1500 metres RUFFOLD commenced to over race and had to be steadied off the heels of LET YOUR HAIR DOWN.
HELP YOURSELF pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.


RACE 6
GET COUNTRY CHALLENGE FOR CANCER CUP 1200 metres

As D. Craven was indisposed he as replaced on TOTAL POSSESSION by P. Wolfgram.
J. Pollard was reprimanded as he was unable to fulfil his engagement on MYFERNO due to being overweight. MYFERNO was subsequently ridden by L. Hill.
Making the 800 metres turn YALLAH MOON commenced to race ungenerously and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions causing the gelding to become unbalanced and lose ground.
PAT'S GUEST and DE KWILA which were following were both hampered as a result.
At the same time PARTNERS was momentarily tightened for room between JOLTIN JOE and TOTAL POSSESSION which shifted out slightly. As a result of this incident MYFERNO had to be steadied off the heels of PARTNERS.
Making the home turn DE KWILA had to be checked off the heels of the weakening YALLAH MOON.
When questioned regarding the racing manners of YALLAH MOON jockey M. Privato stated
that the gelding was racing in a cross over nose band for the first time and it was his opinion that the gelding had resented this.
A post race Veterinary examination of YALLAH MOON failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7
VALENTINES RESTUARANT MAROOCHYDORE HANDICAP 1000 metres

MOUGI, ASBEVITA and LATIN QUARTER were all slow to begin.
A post race Veterinary examination of CENTRELARINA revealed the gelding had bled from the near side nostril.


RACE 8
KEN BAYNTON MINI EXCAVATOR HANDICAP

At the start LIGHT POST and CALM FOREVER were tightened for room between TRIST A SONG and UNISHAK both of which shifted ground.
Near the 1500 metres FOREVER GLORY had to be checked when tightened for room by ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE which was taken in by TRIST A SONG. Jockey T. Unwin rider of TRIST A SONG was reprimanded and advised she must be fully clear when shifting ground in future.
Neat the 200 metes DAWN LANDING had to be steadied off the heels of ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE which shifted in under pressure.
ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE continued to shift in under pressure inconveniencing WALK THE WALK. Jockey L. Harris rider of ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.


All winners plus CELTIC CONNECTION (Race 1) were swabbed.
