STEWARDS REPORT Sunday November 7th 1999

WEATHER: Overcast
TRACK RATING: Good

RACE 1
MAROOCYDORE RSL HANDICAP 1400 metres

Due to transport difficulties jockey B. Stewart was unable to arrive on course by the required time and was subsequently replaced on BOLD AND BRASH by P. Wolfgram.
ALL THE SAME was slow to begin.
MIGHTY CRAFTY jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
When the pace slackened near the 800 metres KISLING had to be steadied off the heels of SPRING BLUFF.

RACE 2
HORTON PARK GOLF COURSE HANDICAP 1000 metres

MOONMINDER and RICHESSE were both slow to begin.
SANDY'S SYMPHONY was hampered on jumping away between PURE MAREE and SUNSHINE YALLAH both of which shifted ground.
SEE YOU IN PARIS shifted out at the start and made contact with HYPER EMMA.
After jumping away awkwardly BROTHER shifted in inconveniencing JACK O'LANTERN, HADAMAH and ZONK.
Approaching the 700 metres HYPER EMMA had to be steadied off the heels of DONBRODI which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider B. Powell.
As a result of this incident HADAMAH had to shift in abruptly to avoid the heels of HYPER EMMA.
Approaching the 200 metres ZONK broke down badly in the near fore near and after inspection by the Club Veterinary Surgeon the filly had to be euthanased.
PURE MAREE lost the near side front plate in running.

RACE 3
CALOUNDRA CITY COUNCIL 1000 metres

Near the 700 metres RORY'S POWER shifted in momentarily tightening JUST GUS in on to MYFERNO. M. Paget rider of RORY'S POWER was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.

RACE 4
CORDWELL CONCRETE HANDICAP 850 metres

After jumping away awkwardly MADAM JOKER shifted in and brushed KABARI GEM.

Approaching the 500 metres MADAM JOKER had to be steadied off the heels of OCEANIA STAR which shifted in.
Over the concluding stages CROWN 'N' ANCHOR shifted in under pressure tightening SAHARA COVET for some distance.

RACE 5
BLACKLAW AND SHADFORTH HANDICAP 1300 metres

Rounding the 800 metres turn GRANDBAR LAD had to be steadied off the heels of KALTRIX which shifted in.
ROYAL DISPLAY was inclined to hang out near the 600 metres forcing IRISH BUNNY wider on the track.
ROYAL DISPLAY continued to lay out and had to be steadied off the heels of IRISH BUNNY near the 100 metres.

RACE 6
TRADERS CUP 1200 metres

Due to an office error M. Lister was listed in the racebook as the rider of MR. DANIELS whereas the gelding was ridden by K. Mahoney.
Acting on Veterinary advice SILENT TRIBUTE was declared a late scratching at 3.14pm after the mare became fractious in the barriers.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SILENT TRIBUTE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 14c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 13c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer Bill Mitchell was advised that both a barrier certificate and Veterinary certificate must be obtained for SILENT TRIBUTE prior to its next race start.
FORCED ASHORE was slow to begin.
BLUE POET and MR. DANIELS brushed on jumping away.
After passing the 400 metres BLUE POET had to be steadied off the heels of TOAST A LADY which shifted in momentarily. Apprentice M. Paget rider of TOAST A LADY was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.

RACE 7
5 STAR SUPERMARKET HANDICAP 1600 metres

B. Stewart rider of DARK REEF accidentally broke his whip in the barriers.
Upon return to scale a protest was lodged by K. Waller rider of 2nd placed IMPERIAL BOUND against DARK REEF ridden by B. Stewart being declared to winner alleging interference over the final 250 metres.
At a protest inquiry it was established that from the 250 metres to the winning post DARK REEF had shifted out making contact with IMPERIAL BOUND on several occasions and over the concluding stages DARK REEF had shifted out further placing K. Waller rider of IMPRERIAL BOUND at a disadvantage.
Stewards were of the opinion that the winning margin exceeded the interference suffered and for this reason the protest was upheld and placings amended to 4 : 1 : 3 : 5.
At at subsequent inquiry B. Stewart rider of DARK REEF was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.

RACE 8
SEVEN SUNSHINE COAST HANDICAP 1600 metres

JACK'S DREAM and GREAT RELATIONS were both slow to begin.
