STEWARDS REPORT Sunday January 23rd 2000

WEATHER: Fine
TRACK RATING: Good
Moveable rail out 6 metres from the 1800 to the 600 metres then out 9 metres from the 600 to the winning post.

GENERAL: Re: SCTC January 16th 2000.
Trainer A. Eaton reported that KISLING, which raced disappointingly in the Burnside Handicap, pulled up lame in the near fore tendon.

Trainer G. Reid reported that after competing in the Caboolture RSL Perpetual Cup at Kilcoy on 21st January 2000 DEEP TAN bled from both nostrils and will now incur a lifetime ban from racing in Australia.

Trainer B. Miller was fined the sum of $50 for nominating both WINTER EXPRESS and TE RANGATIRI in events when ineligible.

RACE 1
PACIFIC PARADISE HANDICAP 1200 metres

HULA MASTER was slow to begin.
HASS LINC was inclined to over race in the early stages of the event.
In the early stages of the straight TREVISCAY was held up for a clear run behind the tiring HULA MASTER.
After leaving the 100 metres MAYO'S MUSIC shifted out under pressure inconveniencing TREVISCAY. G. Duffy rider of MAYO'S MUSIC was severely reprimanded over this incident and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

RACE 2
PALMWOODS HANDICAP 1600 metres

Shortly after the start LOIS EMILY was hampered between CLEAR FINISH and OCRETAW which was taken out by REALITY'S DREAM.
Whilst racing in restricted room leaving the 800 metres OCRETAW shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail.
A post race Veterinary examination of RIGHT ACE failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 3
PARKLANDS HANDICAP 1600 metres

Trainer K. Tinsley was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for TRUE ENOUGH by the required time.
TURTLE COVE was slow to begin.

Race 3 Contd..
After leaving the 1400 metres ALL NATIVE had to be steadied off the heels of ALBITIOUS which shifted in.
A short distance later ALBITIOUS shifted in taking MYMATTY in on to MARIACHI which was inconvenienced. G. Doughty rider of ALBITIOUS was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.
G. Doughty rider of ALBITIOUS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that passing the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SPOKANE causing that horse to be checked and lose its position.
G. Doughty was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence immediately and to expire at midnight on Friday February 4th 2000.
A post race Veterinary examination of YUKON SILVER which compounded badly in the straight failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4
POINT ARKWRIGHT HANDICAP 1600 metres

SOVEREIGN FLAME which was fractious in the barriers was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed to start.
TIPADREAM was hampered on jumping away between PERONI and ROJAH AMBER which shifted out and away from SOVEREIGN FLAME.

RACE 5
IAN MCGRATH HANDICAP 1000 metres

Due to transport difficulties apprentice A. Morrison was unable to fulfil his engagement on SOAR he was replaced by apprentice T. Hill.
WESTMINSTER ABBEY which was fractious in the barriers, was released and inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start. Trainer Peter Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on WESTMINSTER ABBEY relative to its barrier manners.
TABWA and JUDE'S AFFAIR were both slow to begin.
SWIFT DUKE was hampered on jumping away between MULTIREIGNand MISS KAPI both of which shifted ground.
When being steadied near the 800 metres JUDE'S AFFAIR shifted in abruptly taking POETIC GARDEN in across the heels of TRIPLE BOURBON.
Rounding the home turn POETIC GARDEN shifted in and away from CAPTAIN MALLORY and made heavy contact with the running rail.
CAPTAIN MALLORY was inclined to hang in when placed under pressure in the straight.
Near the 100 metres SWIFT DUKE was held up for a clear run for some distance between PUISNE and MULTIREIGN.

RACE 6
QUEENSLAND WINNERS CLUB HANDICAP 1000 metres

MACROSTRIKE, ALWAYS IRISH and SHARP ROAD were all slow to begin.
Shortly after the start WONDER KICK was inclined to hang out and did so for the remainder of the event. A post race Veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormality.
Trainer J Hannah was advised that WONDER KICK must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.

Race 6 Contd..
Near the 600 metres MING PALACE was momentarily inconvenienced by BULL MACHINE which was taken in by HUGE.
Making the home turn MACROSTRIKE shifted in and brushed the running rail.
Over the concluding stages MING PALACE shifted out under pressure inconveniencing MACROSTRIKE.

RACE 7
NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE HANDICAP 1200 metres

As G. Geran was indisposed he was replaced on CRAIGLEA'S HONOUR by G. Baker.
CRAIGLEA'S HONOUR and MYSTIC LADY were both slow to begin.
Shortly after straightening HAYSECHO commenced to hang in placing its rider S. Katsidis at a disadvantage for some distance.

RACE 8
DAVID ALDRED HANDICAP 1400 metres

As N. Jolly was stood down by the Club Doctor following Race 7 he was replaced on HOW BIZARRE by N. Day.
KINGS O'R and CLAN MCLEOD were both slow to begin.
BOLD MUSIC reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer A. Gooden was advised a barrier certificate must be obtained for BOLD MUSIC prior to its next race start.
A post race Veterinary examination of APRIL FOOL revealed the gelding had received lacerations to the near side hind heel during the event.

RACE 9
PERIGIAN BEACH HANDICAP 1400 metres

Due to an office error K. Pope was not shown in the racebook as the rider of SUN SCREEN.
Trainer P. Moody was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for VIKINGS by the required time.
EXCLAIM and SUN SCREEN brushed on jumping away.
SOVANCE was slow to begin.
EXCLAIM pulled hard in the early stages of the event.
When the pace slackened near the 1100 metres EXCLAIM refused to settle and threw its head in the air on several occasions.
Near the 200 metres SUN SCREEN had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring POWER PACK.





All winners were swabbed.
